This is what we have so far... Subject to change...

NBA 10 player phase draft
NFL 24 player bucket draft
MLB 18 player salary cap draft

You will be able to draft from a player from any of the three but I will make rules such as, after 10 picks you must have at least two players from each sport, things like that...

Your thoughts?

I think the idea was to equal out the sports as much as possible so than one sport isn't more important than the other drafting wise.

My thoughts...

NBA - 20 players - one lineup for each quarter
NFL - 22 players - 11 offense (QB,FB, HB, 2 WR, TE, 5 OL, Front 7, 2 CB, 2 S) - 11 defense
MLB - 19 total - 9 positional players, 5 SP, 5 RP

There will be rules in place to avoid tanking a sport. Also this won't be something where each sport has a Champion all three will be used in determining the OVERALL Champion and I think maybe we will have a ranking system in place instead of simply voting but we can talk more about that.

I honestly don't think by making us draft more players than we want to in basketball will even anything out, when we do the final rankings each sport will carry 1/3 of the overall score, at least thats my thinking right now.

Yeah I mean I figured that's how the voting/rankings would go, just have to think about any loopholes. I mean the voting 1/3 seems to do the trick...

I'm thinking we do need some kind of rules in place to avoid tanking, you can tank one sport and do really well in the other two and still have a chance at winning overall.

Going by low score, one point for first, two points for second and so on...

You finish

first in hoops
second in baseball
ninth in football

thats 12 points which could easily win

Also i'm thinking we should try to keep the talk about whos doing well and stuff to a minimum during the draft I don't want to influence peoples rankings, like making them rank the team everyone says is killing it 8th just to hurt them. Although I guess there's no way to stop that from happening anyhow so nevermind...

Yeah I'm good with it.

I'd say up the NBA to 12 players total. That way you could have a ratio based on the players being drafted by each sport (12 NBA, 18 MLB, 24 NFL).

So every 9 picks (not necessarily rounds, based on trades), you would have to have to have 2 NBA, 3 MLB and 4 NFL players.

Just a thought.

How do we use 12 in hoops? bench? I don't want benches.

I'd say you only award positive points to say the first 70% of the top ranked teams. The bottom 30% receive negative points on a dramatic sliding scale.

So for 10 drafters.

1st place: 7 points
2nd place: 6 points
3rd place: 5 points
4th place: 4 points
5th place: 3 points
6th place: 2 points
7th place: 1 point
8th place: -1 point
9th place: -5 points
10th place: -10 points

So if you finished 1st 1st and last in a draft, you'd end up with 4 total points. A team who finished in 6th, 7th and 7th in the same draft would have the same point total. Because of the sharp penalty of the last few picks, it makes more incentive to have as solid of rosters as possible. A team with two 3rd place finishes and 5th might win it all.

I don't mind giving different weights, but it cant be that extreme.... SOMEONE is going to have a bad team for something, that shouldn't eliminate them totally from the race... Punting is a valid Strategy...

I would say make it 15 players, but here is the twist. you pick 5 players to play 2 quarters but it CAN NOT be your top 2 picks...

Baseball should be 26, but No bench... you make a lefty lineup and a righty lineup, and 4 players hit for both lineups, but neither of the 4 players can be your top 2 offensive picks... the other 2 picks would be an extra SP and extra reliever so you can have an even amount of lefties and righties...

Football stays the same

so it would be 65 rounds...

Yeah the more I think about it, requiring a certain amount of players for a sport having to be drafted by round kind of eliminates a bit of the fun for this. Part of the large draft thing is that you want to see where guys are truly valued among all the sports, at least for me.

So I get that. Maybe no weight system then and just lets have a free for all. The arguing at the end over who has the best team might be the best part of the draft.

From here we should add 4 more to NFL to include K, P, LS and KR/PR.

That would bring it to 69 rounds.

I do like using 15 for NBA and Milk's idea....5 players play 2 quarters but those 5 players CANNOT be your top 3 picks.

NBA - 15
MLB - 19 - same as always
NFL - 24 (changing this to 22 would be going against what we have always done)

58 ROUNDS of FUN

I'm guessing no restrictions unless you want to make this a cap draft as well.....

How about this? We have 10 people

1st place: 7 points
2nd place: 6 points
3rd place: 5 points
4th place: 4 points
5th place: 3 points
6th place: 2 points
7th place: 1 point
8th place: 0 points
9th place: -1 points
10th place: -3 points

It would encourage not to get last or really place in the bottom 2.
