Well we've already blown a 2-goal lead. Those were some nice deflections on the Dallas goals. Not anything Osgood could have done.

FUCK DALLAS!

Fantastic no-look shot by Franzen in the dying moments of the 2nd period puts Detroit up 3-2.

Well that sucks a fat one.

Not Osgood's best game, but can't blame him for the first two deflections, and you CAN'T give Ericksson the puck and a 3-1, he's either going to bury it or find someone who will. It's not Osgood I'm worried about though. He made some big saves, and some clutch stops, but if the defense keeps playing like it has and the offense can't execute, it's not going to matter.

Rafalski had a poor outing, he made some bad decisions and some bad giveaways. I guess it's not surprising to say that without Lidstrom to his left, he doesn't look like the same player. Ericsson isn't exactly a rock of dependability, either. The Salei-Kronwall pairing is looking nice, though.

The line juggling seemed to generate some more chances, and I've always been a big fan of the Homer-Franzen-Datsyuk combo. I don't, however, like Zetterberg with Bert and Cleary. I think Filppula needs to be on that line to provide speed and playmaking. Cleary was a beast tonight, it's too bad he couldn't nail that puck in late in the game... not many guys are going to pull off that deflection though.

Abrakadabra was a little asshole tonight, and I loved every minute of it. Any team with Ott, Burish, and Ribiero deserves to get it right back.

Oh well, good luck on getting your 400th, Ozzie. Ken and Mick sure did a lot of Osgood felating, but I can let it slide considering how much he gets shit on.

It's not Osgood I'm worried about right now, it's the whole team's mojo. I guess I'd rather have a slump in December than a slump in May any day of the week.

^^ Well said Eddie, Rafalski needs a boot in the ass for tonights performance. I have never seen him play that bad. Unforced give away resulting in the tieing goal, unnecessary dumbass penalty in overtime, then pinches down way too low on the final play.

I hope sooner than later Babcock starts rewarding Helm and Eaves for their play, everynight those two give 110%, only to sit on the bench while Bert and Fil make Zamboni sized turns on the ice and don't engage the play. Ankelbiterer is slowly winning me over, the kid has stuff..

I hear that. Eaves had a monster night, I was really impressed. I wonder what he would do next to Cleary and Hank.

Filppula I'm so effin torn on. He's clearly got the skills, and he was fantastic as a second line center in their '08 Cup run. I don't know if it's confidence, linemates, chemistry, or what. I think they should roll out Dats-Hank-Homer on the first, Franzen-Fil-Huds on the second. It just makes sense to me.

Helm is so much fun to watch, I doubt his hands will ever catch up to his skates but I'd like him to get the chance to make that happen.

He would probably do good, problem would be breaking up Helm and Eaves in short handed situations, those two along with Drapper/Miller are very effective.

I agree with the euro-twins being together with homer, but either Fil or Huds will have to play the net, when Mule is in the corners, not going to happen, I say put Cleary or maybe give Adjusterblader a shot on second for a shift or two.

I guess what has to happen is Babcock needs to shake the trees alittle, the Wings are coasting and bad habits are starting to creep in, me no like!!!!:(

Random thoughts on the game...

1.) I'm drinking cheap beer. I might come across more angry than insightful.

2.) Mike Ribeiro is a diving piece of shit. I normally word barrage the board with youtube vids to support this, but I think we are all sick of seeing them. But yeah I know, if big, bad, Brian Rafalski touched me I'd fall like a sack of hammers too...

3.) Will the old Bertuzzi please stand up. You know, the one from the first ten games.

4.) Darren still has stone hands. He's still worth the price of admission though.

5.) I had tacos for supper. I probably polished off about a bakers dozen. (I might be late to the coffee talk thread in the morning, unless I take the laptop into the bathroom with me.)

6.) Mickey Redmond still doesn't understand that the refs call all that little hooking, clutching, and grabbing because they had a little meeting in which they decided they were gonna start calling all the little hooking, clutching, and grabbing.:L

7.) 399! ARRRGH!

8.) I'm still gonna buy you a beer one day, Ozzie.

9.) Maybe we should try pairing Raffy with the best Defensemen in the world? Oh wait...

10.) Larry Murphy looks like he is about to say something. Quick! Somebody get him a hotdog!

11.) DO YOU FUCKING GET IT YET, JIRI!!!

12.) Eaves, Helm, Abdulkaitir = excellent bang for the buck

13.) Louie E. is either underrated or only has a way of finding open space against the Wings.

14.) I knew Richards needed Kronwalled. Why don't they listen to me?

15.) Big E (not Louie), quit making me mention you in all these little game thoughts. Now.

16.) The Bills won. Fish are out of the playoffs. Suck that, Jeffy!

17.) I already miss Turdco in Dallas.

18.) Have I said "FUCK DALLAS!" yet?

19.) Could Mike Modano have that big of an impact on team chemistry in such a short time? One could argue that things have been off a tick since he went down...

I was going to say that earlier, that and the return of Drapes. The team made it to the top and have been coasting since. And it's not even Feburary yet :L

Not much to add to what's already been said. Wings are in a slump. Part of it must be due to playing every other day for the last week and a half or so.

Detroit, Dallas, and Colorado are at the top of the standings.

Brings a tear to my nostalgic Dead Puck Era eye.
