So I'm reading a mock draft and they are saying we take Spencer Fano at #13 and this is why...

"To summarize another pick that featured greater detail in my last mock, Spencer Fano is an encouraging tackle prospect with legitimate potential to evolve into the caliber of center that the quarterback of the future is happy to have."

Wtf did he say??? So we should take Fano, a top tackle prospect and play him at Center? Or am I reading that wrong???

Why the HELL would we do that???

They don't want to give the Rams another weapon and are looking for places to keep Fano in the early 1st. At this point, I think there is some serious mock draft fatigue and these analysts are getting a bit loopy, reaching for something different to project.

Also, McClendon came a long way last season. I don't think tackle is that big of a need.

He ended the season looking like a legitimate starting OT. Depending on who falls, take the best WR or LB.

The need is for improved tackle depth. McClendon is in his final year and Alaric has missed time with blood clots multiple times.

They should be able to get that on day 2. Hopefully!

I've mocked Tiernan in the 2nd quite often. He's probably best case scenario for day 2.

I'm in a live mock now and 7 OTs went in the first and the top of the 2nd has been OG heavy thus far (Cinci at #41 currently on the clock).

There is discussion the Rams should not select a QB at 13 especially a Nussmeier or even Simpson but wait until the 3rd Round and select Carson Beck who is who they should take anyways!!
Nussmeier may not go until the 5th, maybe 4th round.

No chance he goes in the 1st or 2nd. The 3rd might be a reach as well, unless it's the mid to late 3rd.

#13 should not be a QB seems obvious. Beck should be later than 3rd round IMO, career backup at best. I'd prefer to take a dart throw on Klubnik on day 3, he had Mendoza level stats last year but the entire Clemson team fell off this year.
Yeah, Beck and Klubnik like Nussmeier.....prolly 4th....maybe later.

Makai Lemon also would make sense since Adams will be 34 and entering the final year of his deal.

If Lemon is available at #13.

Boredom mock (no trades):

13. Makai Lemon, WR, USC
61. Cashius Howell, Edge, Texas A&M
93. Drew Shelton, OT, Penn State
207. Fernando Carmona Jr, OG, Arkansas
232. Jeff Caldwell, WR, Cincinnati
251. Riley Nowakowsi, TE, Indiana
252. Albert Regis, DT, Texas A&M

In retrospect needs LB/DB, but having 4 late picks is marginally above UDFA anyway.

I can see anywhere from pick 80 onwards. He needs a season or two to add to his frame and learn the playbook. He’d be a guy that would probably be the best fit in a situation where there’s a veteran quarterback to show him the ropes.

Strikes me as the type who needs to sit for a few seasons before playing. Might be a quality backup some day but IDK about consistent starter.

Ugh, no thanks. We were told the same about Stetson Bennett. I can see us drafting a QB who can sit for a year(or at most two)with Stafford in what will probably be his last season. We need to take a guy who can be a possible quality starter after that time, not a "maybe" backup.

I'm not going to predict Stafford's retirement until he says something himself. If you're looking for a potential quality starter in this year's draft, they need to either get Simpson or trade out of the first to get another first next year IMO.

I'm still banking on the Rams finding a way to get another standout vet QB in time for Matt to retire. There's a guy in Cincinnati who can't be all that happy...
