If tradition holds, the Superbowl champions host the opening Thursday night game the following season.

Here are the Seahawks' home opponents:

Arizona, San Francisco, St. Louis, Dallas, NY Giants, Denver, Oakland, Green Bay

Would the league really give us a superbowl rematch week 1? I really doubt it

Why would you doubt it? I'm not saying it will happen, but I don't see any particular reason that it would not happen either.

Cause of the wide spread "superbowl was boring" fan mindset, now dont get me wrong it was the best game ive ever seen but im a hawks fan. Add in a raucous 12 th man seeing the superbowl banner get raised and denver wants nothing to do with that game.

The NFL just wants profit. Higher television ratings mean more profit.

A Super Bowl rematch opening the season would bring very high ratings, so I would not be surprised at all if the opener was against Denver.

I think GB returning for a rematch after the 'fail mary' game would draw more at this time across the league than a replay of the SB. Both have their draws and if anyone expects the exact same results as the SB they haven't watched a lot of football. Don't get me wrong, I'm sure Seattle would be favored by at least 10 in a home game against Denver on a night when they will taunt them by raising their banner in front of them, but it won't be a 35 point skull dragging either.

To me GB makes the most sense.

A Seattle vs. Denver match up in November or December would probably draw more fanfare

Only if both teams are on top. It's guaranteed if it's week one.

You all are missing the obvious choice.......San Francisco. Between how good the NFCCG game was, and all of the animosity and trash talk that went on from both sides after it, THIS is the most intriguing matchup imo.

Great as this will be I think they will start the season with the Broncos. We will see.

I agree with going with San Fran, that would be a great way to get things started.

San Francisco is the choice. It's easier to sell than Denver after that blowout, and don't give me Green Bay. They're not good enough to open the season.

Arizona could also be an interesting choice as they only team to beat the Seahawks at home in recent memory?

...especially if playoff expansion is still a hot topic

No chance whatsoever. Also playoff expansion is a joke.

I would think the NFL goes with someone other than the broncos. The SB sucked and I doubt many people want a repeat. (Although, after 8 months of no football fans will be starving for any game.)

Also, as a broncos fan. I really do not want a 43-8 SB drubbing to be followed by a similar 55-6 season opener at one of the hardest places to play. That crowd will be going nuts.

"No chance whatsoever" seems a bit silly to me, they are the 3rd best team playing Seattle at home after the 9ers and Broncos.

May be a joke to you, but it certainly isn't to those whose opinion will actually affect whether it happens.

You're right but I hope the league goes with Green Bay or Denver because I hate seeing 2 quality division opponents go at it in the first month of the season

true that

I hope that the NFL follows the same scheduling format as last year though. The division games towards the end of the year were pretty intense and much more meaningful

Nobody wants to see Arizona. There is no shot whatsoever that they are involved in the season opener.
