The good news is, we'll be able to say the Seahawks played a shit team in the divisional round and therefore deserve no credit for a win.

Bks- you know the Panthers don't stand a chance next week. The game won't be close.

It can go either way. I can see Seattle winning 24-6 but I can also see Panthers losing 14-10

Yeah, and only 11 teams gave up more point than Carolina this year, right?

If you think points scored/allowed is the only way to judge offensive/defensive teams in any sport, you're truly an idiot.

There are many other stats to look at

You take that back damn it! Your trying to lay your evil black magic voodoo curse on the Seahawks.

A struggling Panthers team were leading against the Hawks with less than 5 mins to play. One more stop and they likely would have won that game. It is possible they could make it a close game next week if they face the Hawks.

Anything can happen in a one game, winner take all series. But the last 3 times Seattle has played the Panthers every game was in Carolina and every game was an early start which is tough on West coast teams. This game will be played in Seattle and it's a night (prime time) game. Seattle is a different animal at home and especially in prime time.

I'm not making any predictions because every team, and every game makes me nervous, but the odds definitely favor Seattle at home.

Of course it won't matter a lick if Detroit beats Dallas. Then everything changes.

Richard Sherman is a loudmouth, overrated corner? :noidea:

I don't like the Seahawks at all, but I firmly believe they are the absolute class of the NFL right now.

Sherman does like to talk. But we still like him a lot.

So your saying the Panthers have no chance at all.

They have a great chance to compete.

I never said anything about them winning.

Usually when you have a good defense you don't get blown out very often.

I just find it funny how everyone thinks they're going to get blown out because they have a top 10 defense ( you guys were hyping up the 24th ranked Cardinals defense all season long but Carolina is a bad defensive team because they played bad offensive teams in the NFC South lol). They absolutely dominated today. If not for silly unforced errors, the Cardinals would not have scored a point

Easy there, boss. Never said anything close to that. Just pointing out some irony.

The Panthers have a good defense, but it is true they were 21st in points allowed.

It is also true that they're 10th in YPG allowed which means team have trouble going up and down the field again.

It helps to actually analyze the numbers. For example they allowed 31 points to Minnesota on November 30th so most people without looking at the numbers would assume the Panthers D had a terrible game. The defense allowed 210 yards and 4.4 yards per play. Minnesota had 2 special teams TD and started 2 of their 3 scoring drives on offense started on the Panthers side of the field.

This exact reason why I do not look at points per game allowed when talking about best defensive teams. There's so many factors that PPG allowed does not take into account

Today's game was ugly, going to be even uglier next week vs. Seattle, think Seattle wins by at least 20.

Yep, shitty game to watch. Cripple fights are more entertaining. Not much else to say other than that

It could mean that. It could also be the result of an offense that turns the ball over a lot or a ST unit that isn't good in coverage. Or a D that benefits from having an O that keeps the ball most of the game. I'm not saying this describes the Panthers, just point out that there are other possibilities.

I agree. Yards per play is probably the single best stat to look at for a defense.

Carolina played well. The only thing they did wrong was turn the ball over far too often.

They had 386 total offense against the Cardinals D, ran for nearly 200 yards, and we already know what their defense did

If I'm a Panthers fan I'm pretty please from what I saw from my team today. Only concern is the silly turnovers and Cam's accuracy

Yes, there are a few examples like the Minnesota one that was mentioned, however over the course of a 16 game schedule I think these things average themselves out and the Points per game stat (and others) is probably pretty accurate.
