The Kings have traded Quick to CBJ for Vladislav Gavrikov and Joonas Korpisalo.
Team gets better but I have to say I have an empty hole in my heart hearing Quick is out.

I know he's fallen out of favor for a lot of fans but man this dude was a gamer. He's one of the main reason we've seen two cups as fans.

You'll be missed homie. Hope he just retires and doesn't even make the flight to Columbus.

Terms
Korpisalo and defenseman Vladislav Gavrikov from the Columbus Blue Jackets in exchange for goaltender Jonathan Quick, a conditional 2023 first-round draft pick and a 2024 third-round draft pick. Should the Kings miss the 2023 Stanley Cup Playoffs, the pick would instead become second-round selections in 2023 and 2024.

Removing all emotions from it, I love the trade. Fills 2 glaring needs.

Adding emotions to it, I hate it. I really hope it doesn't mess with team chemistry and I hope they find a way to redeem Quick and his legacy.

If we take Quick out of the trade
Kings traded a 2023 first and a 2024 third for
an average backup goalie and defenseman, that are not signed for next year.
Don’t know if they needed cap space but they could have set Quick to the press box

I thought they would have gotten more for Quick. After I read the email, it didn’t surprise me, but in hindsight the guy did a lot for this team.

Quick is as responsible as anyone is for 2 cup wins, He is a gamer and extremely competitive. But purely as a hockey move emotions out of it I think it's a good deal. Unfortunately the team and important players will put emotions into...

On another note, it’s yet another reason to boo Flake.

Quick already asked to be moved to a playoff team, and Columbus said they will do their best to accommodate him. Two of the teams thrown out there were Seattle and Vegas. If Quick ends up in Vegas.... I honestly don't know how I'd feel.

Spitballing here. Just saw Edmonton also in the mix, with the joke being they love a good formerly-elite goaltender past their prime.

Petersen gets lit up all year, Quick gets lit up all year, and now the shine wearing off Copley. Zero conversations about McLellan and the system. If Korpisalo comes in and gets lit up, we can probably finally have that conversation. The Kings did at least get a defenseman, so maybe that helps.

If Quick goes to Vegas, Seattle, Edmonton (ala, Jones getting traded to Boston, then immediately to San Jose to then beat LA in the playoffs) and ends up playing well...man. Maybe the good news is we would probably get those conversations going with McLellan and Blake.

I know on paper they apparently fleeced Columbus, but Korpisalo is UFA so he's basically a pure rental right now.

I listened to an interview with John Hoven today and he said something that made me feel a little bit better about the situation. According to him, Quick doesn't think he is done after this season and wants to continue playing. With that being said, it wasn't as if he was a few months away from retiring. Kings have no plans of signing Quick next season, so it makes sense to let him go now to try and compete this season. If all of that is true, I feel a lot better about how Blake handled it.

I was listening to The Hockey Guy on Youtube and he said Robitaille said the same thing, that Quick doesn't sound like he wants to retire yet.

Vegas! Seriously?! If all places. How are Kopi and DD8 going to react when they see him? Will Vegas put him in goal against the Kings? What if the Kings meet the Golden Showers in the playoffs, would Vegas put him in just to screw with the Kings?
