guy carbonneau COULD be our new coach.


the team is expected to announce its decision late this week or early next, and carbonneau has stepped down from the heading coaching position w/ chicoutimi in the Q.

its not a sure thing, obviously, but if the shoe fits....

yeah im not so sure how i like this. his record isnt all that great he has zero playoff success. the team he currently coaches in beyond small market.

Hmm... not sure what to think of Guy. I still prefer Mike Eaves but I could see this working out. Can't be worse than J Mac. I still believe 2012-2013 is the year we will make a serious run at the cup, so I give him a 1 year trial.

i'm not saying a guy like carbonneau couldn't work, but lou doesn't exactly keep his coaching options open it seems.


now tg and chere are both mentioning therrien. i might seriously cry, that does not bode well for our young kids.

Can't say I was very familiar with Therrien's system in Pitt. Maybe he didn't have the right personnel for his style, but I recall every Penguins fan calling for this guys head.

Therrien is very, very hard on his players. Beyond reasonable. It's not like burns who held them accountable, Therrien is a straight up asshole to his playe

I really want Lemaire to return. Seems like that won't happen. Hitchcock would be solid for a few seasons until players stop listening to him.

carbonneau might not be all that bad.

Remember that his firing in Montreal was due to an implosion of the team (players doing their own thing) and Gainey was stuck in between a rock and a hard place...either him or the coach going at that time. Carbonneau did have a winning record in his 3 seasons with Montreal.

I listened to an interview with carbonneau after his firing and I will admit that he was very professional and didn't mention anything about what was going on behind closed doors with that team. Also he was still very positive about Gainey.
One might say he was bias because Gainey and Carbonneau are good friends. But I don't think he was bias.
