I see where former Rangers prospect Ricky Vanasco has cleared waivers and became a free agent. It is a shame that he never fully developed the way it looked like he would at one time.

I guess I will always link Vanasco amd Tekoah Roby in my mind. Reading about Vanasco made me look to see how Roby is doing. Roby had TJ surgery about 14 months ago. He will be playing in the AFL this fall.

I don't think we can blame everything on Skip. Carter had a magical moment in time in 2023. But I wondered myself if he could continue that. I wish he could because he's a good defender with speed but a mediocre arm. Skip gave ample opportunity playing him against predominantly right handers. If we blame Skip for Carters poor offense then we have to credit him for Duran's success most of the year. Duran just got the opportunity to play everyday and I would like that for Foscue. We will never know just what we have in him until we just let him play.
Not saying everything- just a contributing factor. Not a big fan of over platooning.
Bochy would play the player the next game on general principle after a home run. Skip would sit a hot bat

Don’t get me wrong Carter is broken and I hope he gets fixed but what I said was Skip did him no favors with his subtle “no confidence” in him

FWIW for the Carter haters. Not so different than much of the board here discounting Lance Lynn prematurely. He still very young and developing physically

But yeah unless he change Carter does not deserve a starting spot much like the Astros and Rangers did not deserve a playoff spot lol

And piling on is unnecessary haha

Hard to believe he’d bring back Joc at 18 million when he only drove in 53 runs.
No he is long gone but he would have a lot more RBIs if the Rangers could get on base
As CY thinks and I kind of believe Joc has more dawg in him but 18 mill is a poor buy for diminishing returns

It was hard to believe that he signed him 2 years ago for a total of $37 million, so who can tell what CY will do.
I think CY misread the room with what ownership would spend on a yearly basis

People have a lot of opinions on who to blame for what has become the Rangers continued mediocrity
Many blame the owners for being “cheap”.
To me, the owners will spend if they are making plus revenue on a yearly basis. The TV revenue drop off has discouraged spending
Now the owners are making good money due to club $ appreciation if they sell but they want more
They don’t treat the club as Cohen does, a hobby of sorts

I think Davis made it crystal clear that he wanted to step back and reset the CBT. It is on CY that it took him two years to to that when it should have only taken one. I still cannot understand why that blunder in 2025 did not get him fired.

To me, Caden Scarborough is overrated.

Could be but he is rated as having good control for a young pitcher so that’s looked at as a major plus.
I like him, but just not to the extent that some do.

every prospect has "issues" until you put them on the big stage you never know
I agree but some do pan out well but to some extent we don’t know. Wyatt is in that category
Now Walcott has had strikeout concerns thst I believe has improved
How that affects him at the MLB level is an unknown it we do NL know he has absolute MLB talent Speed arm and pop

i would like to see Walcott at the MLB level at some point this coming season and the strikeouts are all part of growing

Mom trade rumors have come out with projected arbitration amounts. One of Burger and Jung could easily be traded
Despite trading for O’Hoppe, he is no certain keeper

I think the only arbitration figures that the Rangers might balk at would be the highest two. They could probably bring in a cheaper starting pitcher and trade Gore. Then they could apply the difference toward the bullpen. Of course, that is assuming they will not trade Eovaldi or deGrom.

They might not have a problem with Burger, but I guess there is a possibility they won't want to pay him that much and attempt to trade him.

I would put a 40-50% possibility on them trading Gore and a 30% possibility of them trading Burger for financial reasons.

Think Jung or Burger get traded
I doubt if they move the top 3 contracts because they would have to eat money except maybe Eovaldi
Gore is an innings eater so he likely stays unless the haul for him is good and we sign a guy like Cal

Don’t think Walcott starts the year in the majors as he needs reps at other positions
Now the CBA and it’s upcoming rules may alter all this
