University of Texas backup quarterback Connor Wood is transferring to Colorado.

The school issued a statement on their website, TexasSports.com, saying that the redshirt freshman has been given his unconditional release.

"I want to thank Coach (Mack) Brown, Coach (Bryan) Harsin, all of the coaches, and my teammates for the opportunity to play at a great school like The University of Texas," Wood told TexasSports.com. "I loved playing for UT and gave it my all, but I felt I needed to seek a new opportunity. I will always cherish the memories and friends I developed as a Longhorn, but I'm excited about the next chapter in my life and looking forward to playing at the University of Colorado."

Wood was beat out this fall on the depth chart by Case McCoy and Garret Gilbert, who the Longhorns recently named as their starter.

Wood couldn't complete a pass to save his life and he was #4 on the depth chart. If you are having problems beating out Gilbert, you don't deserve to start for anybody.....

Surely he could play at New Mexico or NM State...

I'm sure he would start at Tulsa. GJ Kinne was 4th on the depth chart behind McCoy, Snead and Chiles when he transferred and stepped right in with ease. I was mainly talking about BCS schools, although CU is considered mid major status the way they have sucked for so long......

GJ Kinne should of stayed. He is better than anyone on the texas roster right now.

Not really. Kinne plays nobody in that god awful conference. Since 2002, Tulsa is 2-15 vs. BCS opponents. Gilbert could step right in and dominate in Conference USA......
