ON a money note, McClain was the one that would COST us money to cut. McGhee is the guy we would save money cutting.

Guess they are actually tooling up to only carry six DL into the season ( a common mistake they make in my opinion)

I have a feeling that somehow someway Ziggy Hood makes it back on this roster. Dont forget about Phil Taylor either

I am a firm believer that we need to carry more D-lineman than just six, for injury as well as rotational purposes. PLus i get tired of seeing guys on the active game day roster that dont take a single snap at WR or TE because we carried like 9000 of them on the roster.

Is the active day roster increasing to 53? I heard a lot of rumblings about that to help with player safety which I 100% agree with.

NOt sure, I will have to look that one up. I know they were talking about it.

I get the feeling at the next CBA, the players association is going to push for an over all roster increase from 53 to 70, also sighting player safety. And it would not shock me to see game day roster size increase. Owners will bitch because it means bigger payrolls, but its a small give to get the extra teams and active games the league apparently wants to work into the pipeline. Teams in London, Canada, Mexico City and giving San Diego a team back would also allow them to expand the # of playoffs teams and eliminate the playoffs bye.

McClains base salary was no longer guaranteed, so we dont take a cap hit for cutting him.. well not an extra cap hit any way.

Since Taylor is strictly a NT, he has very little chance to make the Skins' roster. His play for the Skins might be more auditioning for other teams.

Coach, we will keep six, we SHOULD keep 7. We carried too many TE's and DBs last year considering that it was our O-line and D-line that got beat to shit by injury last year.

If they continue to do things the way they did last year some packages have Kerrigan and Smith as DEs and two interior lineman. That worked great when Allen and Ionaddis were both healthy.

Yeah, that's why I think adding a speed rushing OLBer would help the depth of the front 4. Oh well - next draft I think we need to make that a priority.

Fine. BUt I still think we should keep 7, so spot #7 would be a battle between Hood and Taylor. Im fine with that. I would then give the edge to Hood because i think in our sub package, he could be a guy who floats between DT and DE and gives us a little more pass rush at least for this season.

If we are talking pure NT... yea Im taking Taylor. As for versatility, Im taking Hood.

I dont want either of them starting at this point.

Taylor would be third string NT. He is nothing else.

Hood can at least go elsewhere, even if he is worse on nose.
