So about 14 years ago or so I bought a 983K titleist driver for $400.

Since then I've tried several different drivers, several different brands.

To this day I still hit the 983K. I murder that thing. 8.5 degree with a speeder shaft. Average around 300 a pop with it. Yesterday I went out and had one drive that was around 345.

I swear this is the best driver ever made still to this day.

An old Nike 10 degree driver I bought off a friend for 50 bucks. First one I started playing with. Got to where my fingers were worn into the grips. lost track of it when I took my 10 year break from golf.

Getting fitted for a new one after a few more trips to the range. Got my irons dialed in but my driver swing needs a lot more work. It's amazing how much I forgot about swing mechanics.

Well...given that the shaft is doing most of the work...the best shaft/driver head combo I'm probably still waiting for actually.

The best fitted driver shaft I've had was a UST65 with a stiff tip...mated to a Mizuno head that I actually forgot the name of.

The driver I have now Titleist 913 D3...I'm pleased with it. Although my stock shot is a fade, I've always played it in the neutral position and I can turn it over a little better (mostly a little straighter shot not a true draw) with the smaller 445CC head if I really need to.

The newer Titleist with the speed slot I've never hit so I don't know if they are any better...I'm fine with distance on the 6200-6600 yd tracks I play...keeping inside the treeline is my primary goal with the driver.

That would be my current driver, it's a PING G 12 degree with a Project X HZRDUS shaft, stiff with a high kick point. I'm not a big hitter, this driver has me hitting between 240 and 270 yds with an occasional longer one...and quite a few shorter ones if I'm not striking the ball well.

The club is having a free fitting in June for PXG clubs. I'd like to see what i could hit with one of those, but no way I'm dropping over a grand on a driver.

A guy in our group plays that driver, not sure of his shaft. Fucking kills when he's on. I'm looking at getting one of those Ping G 3 hybrids

I've heard of PXG and I see a few tour pros playing them, but I've yet to see even one weekend, or regular amateur with them. That guy (owner) just has money to burn and was an avid golfer so he hired the Ping designer and said you have a blank sheet of paper...I want the best clubs...period.

I have been hit or miss with every driver I've used so I don't have the "best" one. I really need to get a less lofted one, currently at 10.5.... But with my swing I balance it out but once I get under it I really get under it and it goes sky high!

My game is really high as well, I thought when I went in for a fitting that I'd end up with a 9 degree or something less then my typical 10.5...but I ended up with a 12 degree loft and a lower trajectory.

Quite possible...It's all in the shaft baby!

Bend point, tip, etc.

I use an 11-degree Orlimar with a pretty bendy shaft.

Lots of typing just to claim that you drive the ball 300+ yards.

Worst humblebrag ever.

The Calloway GBB Epic I bought last weekend. It usually takes a little time for me to get used to a new club but this one has been reliable from the get go. I'm ripping the the ball off the tee every time.

The WHAP! Sound it makes when striking a ball is sexy as hell. Been averaging about two-fiddy

The technology in this thing is pretty cool. Set at 10.5 degrees but adjustable down to 9. Can adjust draw-to-fade.

Yep, @ATL96Steeler nailed it, it's all in the shaft.

From above:Project X HZRDUS black , stiff with a high kick point

The shaft cost as much as the club.

Probably. I do have a stiff shaft on my 10.5

Uber driver in Denver. Told me all the best places to buy weed, where I could smoke it, swung by the liquor store so I could pick up some bourbon, and was entertaining to boot. Best driver ever.

I think a lot of it has to do with the kick point or bend/flex point. The higher on the shaft the lower the trajectory...so I've been told.

I don't have a favorite driver. I can't hit mine without slicing the shit out of the ball. Currently hitting a Taylor Made R1 and had a Taylor Made Burner before this one.

I am starting to think I may be better off hitting my 3W off the tee because I'd rather lose 15 yds in distance but be in the fairway instead of the threat of the ball going OB or a bad second shot out of the rough.

Yea, my favorite driver was the big Bertha 11 degree. I play mostly on small courses in Queens.
Lots of dog legs. It's a great advantage when you can just cut the corners a bit with a high ball.

And considering that I suck at wedge shots from 100 yards ..any monster drives would be wasted anyway.
