I've heard they were interested in Trey Lance so this move seems to indicate they believe they can't get him or you would've waited to make this trade and had done it draft day assuming they were in fact interested in Lance.

Might add a tiny bit of fuel to Lance being the 9ers pick because Lynch and Adam Peters are tight with Elway so it's not out of the realm of possibility they let their old pal in on some inside info.

Their numbers are almost identical. Carr has a bit higher QB rating and Bridgewater has a better record. They’re both C- QBs.
