The year of the choke job in Seattle in the NFC championship game

Packers STs played huge roll in the melt down... Seahawks fake FG (Richardson blown assignment) and then Bostick not blocking as he was assigned and told to do so in the huddle just prior to play (Jordy waiting for ball behind)

Definitely one that got away for the Packers

The 1990 Niners were a freak fumble exchange between Young & Craig to advance to Super Bowl. Montana took a hard hit just before that. One first down the Niners play the Bills in the Super Bowl and certainly would have been first and only team to 3Peat.

I remember that, Joe Montana got knocked out of the game late, Young came in and had a game ending drive going, then the fumble that landed right in LT’s lap … I agree, no fumble Niners 3 peat, it was that close …

That onside kick recovery was unbelievable, probably a 1 percent chance that happens…

2014 Rams.

They were 6-10 with Jeff Fisher and with no QB1. For all Bradford's fault he was light-years better than Shaun Hill or Austin Davis. Under better leadership that defense should/would have been 1 of the best defenses in NFL history.

1979 Bucs losing championship game, great defense and offense lead by Doug Williams. Not sure what they could have done VS Steelers in Super Bowl but would have liked to have seen them advance since the next two decades were horrible.

2017 Steelers… Top 3 OL, Le’veon Bell before he fell off his statistical cliff, Antonio Brown in MVP form, and Martavis Bryant being the freak that he was.

That team was finally healthy & primed for a run. Only they proved that you can have the most talented offense in the league but that means nothing without a decent defense.

They got beat by Blake Bortles.

2008 NY Giants were 11-1 and just steam rolling everyone. They beat the eventual SB participants Steelers/Cardinals both on the road. I thought for sure they were going back to back Superbowls. Then Plaxico happened.....oh what could've been.

Steelers from 1994-1997, loaded with talent on both sides of the ball and choked when it counted....I blame Cowher and Neil O’Donnell......2001 loss to Patriots was painful as well......

Yep, gotta have a defense, just puts way too much pressure on your offense to always score …

You may remeber my posts about the Steelers run blocking being poor. They were 20th in the NFL in rushing yards in a year they finished 13-3.
They have only gotten worse since. Steelers finished 32 in NFL rushing yards in 2020
You might even say they were over-achievers that year.

Maybe the 2 worst ever was the Vikings. If they dont screw up against the Falcons they might have gone into history as one of the best teams ever.
& obviously the Pats squandering the perfect season.
As far as the Cowboys. The playoff game against the niners where they spotted them a 21 pt lead. That team could have made history if not for that game.

The run game saw a steep decline in 2019. 2020 was the result of negligence. They thought they could squeeze 1 more year out of the OL corps but it ended up being a very bad idea. Didn't help that they didn't have a proper OC.

I submit that the decline started in 2017. It was "hidden" by the strength of the passing game.

Seahawks/Pats SB...Would rather have seen PA and Russ rolling out or as bad as Lynch was on very short yardage give it a shot and hand the ball off. Still had 1 TO in the back pocket. Still a great game.

Eagles...The many times they were favored and choked in the NFCCCG only making 1 SB app under Reid.

Eagles.... once every 38 years is enough to keep the Eagles fans going......
