Jim Haslett not thrilled by referee?s suggestion that defense needs to be coached differently | ProFootballTalk
haz a little testy here but i cant blame him
So according to shark haslett is going to kickass and rg3 sucks![]()
Bright side so far, our defense is not looking over matched by the offense unlike some of the other teams in the division.
I get the feeling Haslett is going to shock some of you guys this year.
Guys I am really not trying to stir the stinky stuff but what makes you say Haslett seems to be getting the job done? They haven't played any football yet. They are doing drills and working on technique etc. One thing I like this year is they brought in a coack who specializes in working with OLBs. I think that was a wise decision.
Anyhow, I am not saying things won't work out I was just wondering how you determined he is doing a good job until you see some real football.
It will be interesting once games start to see how new 5 yard chuck rule pans out. That is because of Seattle and their man handling of receivers. There was a similar rule about 10 years ago or so because the Pats DBs were doing a similar thing.
he seems to have a good staff . he is letting them coach . and there seems to be real development with our young guys like robinson , jenkins , murphy ,amerson breeland , chase , baker .
so far he seems to be doing a good job putting together a defense
so at this point , from a coaching standpoint , he is doing what good coaches do with the players he has
i see better angles , i see better techniques more emphasis on tackling . so going into the first preseason games i think he has done a good job
still a long way to go but so far so good
Don't get me wrong, I am not picking on Haslett. What change in angles and techniques have you seen? The emphasis on tackling is Gruden's decision, not Haslett's.
If nothing else, having a head coach who is going to allow the defense to actually attack instead of playing prevent for 60 minutes should make us better. Dont get me wrong, I think Shanahan was a good coach, but if there is any truth to him hand cuffing the defense, then he FAILED in that aspect. Haslett started designing the turbo package two years ago, yet we never once saw it in a game situation outside of preseason. IM willing to bet e will see it early this season. And the idea of Rak, Kerrigan, Hatcher Murphy and Coefield being told, go getem and let the other guys worry about contain... I dont know about you but I just got a semi thinking about it.![]()
