Guess Griffin had 2 interceptions off tipped passes today. Think it was in 7-7s. Followed by a TD pass to Roberts.

Apparently a spirited practice with some friendly jawing amongst players.

  • -- It was tough to accurately measure quarterback Robert Griffin III Sunday. The Washington Redskins used shells for half the practice and no pads for the rest. That means the pass-rush would pull up sooner than usual -- and defensive backs often slowed on plays where Griffin appeared to be sacked.

But it was not the best day for Griffin and the offense. He would have been sacked a few times; it's tough to know if that stemmed just from protection issues at times (linebacker Ryan Kerrigan had a few successful rushes against the right side of the line. He drove right tackle Morgan Moses back with one hand on a rush and turned the corner). Or because Griffin held the ball too long. Sometimes those plays ended up as completions, but it's hard to count them because several would have been sacks.

The result: Griffin took off running five times, the most we've seen him do since camp opened.

Griffin was intercepted twice, though the first time occurred after running backTrey Williams had a ball skip off his hands and into the diving arms of safetyDashon Goldson. Another ball that was tipped, this time by corner Justin Rogers, also ended up with Goldson.

The 11-on-11 work was without pads so it's always a tougher one from which to draw many conclusions. But Griffin was not sharp (last week in a similar setting, he called it his best practice mentally and physically).

Meanwhile, earlier in the day, Redskins general manager Scot McCloughan was firm in his praise of Griffin. He saw what he wanted from Griffin in the preseason opener.

"I liked it a lot," McCloughan said. "I see improvement. I see confidence. I see the ball out on time. I see a good football player."

he is tough on RG3 and i like that about kiem

RICHMOND, Va. – Highlights and observations from Washington Redskinspractice Sunday:

  • I mentioned one time in a Facebook post about comments fans sometimes shout during practice. They aren't always the best. One fan yelled at linebacker Adam Hayward after a kick return in which the players were only blocking at half- to three-quarter speed. In other words, not full effort. But a fan yelled at Hayward to “keep it tight” and shouted about him being cut.

  • That didn’t sit well with Hayward, who was about 30 yards away and started jawing with the fan. One comment led to another and Hayward started flashing a money sign (I'm really not sure why. Even the fan yelled, “Ain’t nobody worry about your money!” And, “Worry about the game, man!”). Fullback Darrel Young played peacemaker after the reps were over, coming over and fist-bumping the fan. Hayward did too before leaving (no words were exchanged). And that was that.

Junior Galetteis explosive. He also has a big-time knack for being able to turn the corner and maintain his balance and speed. In a one-on-one drill vs Trent Williams, Galette tried to beat him wide. Williams was able to stop him but had to work awfully hard to do so, getting low. That burst would have beaten most tackles. Later, in a 2-on-2, Galette beat Williams inside -- the threat of him turning the corner got the tackle off-balance. Galette also beat him in full-team work. Galette would have had a sack later in the day against another tackle. I also like how fast Galette moves on stunts.
  • Galette stood up tight end Chase Dixon on a rush and got into him and quickly shed him to get in on a tackle a couple plays later. Dixon had a little trouble with his hands vs. linebacker Ryan Kerrigan, who had a strong day. I thought tight end Je'Ron Hamm did a nice job with his footwork on one block vs. Galette, keeping him at the line.

  • Cornerback DeAngelo Hall left practice with an injured left toe and was being evaluated. He walked off OK, but there’s no word yet on what, if anything, is wrong. He hurt himself breaking on a pass to make a stop in practice. I always worry about older players -- Hall is 31 -- and their ability to stay healthy once injuries hit in the summer. He’s still working his way back into game shape off his Achilles injury in 2014. He’s had a groin issue, and now a toe problem, this summer.

  • Hall broke up a pass to receiver Ryan Grant before leaving, a low, wobbly pass from Robert Griffin III. Hall jumped over Grant's left shoulder to make the play.

  • Tom Compton worked a lot at tight end with the first unit, and they did throw the ball with him on the field. It can be an advantage with him in the game when the Redskins use their play-action. The first time they tried it, Griffin had plenty of time on a pass over the middle to Pierre Garcon.

  • Compton did have a nice block on linebacker Trent Murphy that helped open a big hole for running back Matt Jones when they were still wearing their shells. No one touched Jones for the first five yards. Compton, this time at tackle, stopped linebacker Preston Smith on one rush. Smith tried a rip move but it was a little late -- again, thinking too much.

  • Smith did a nice job looping to the middle on one rush -- his size really comes in handy here. It appeared that his presence altered a Kirk Co
compton at te and the play action seemed to work well

halls healthy is starting to become an issue

Brun, a native of Stone Mountain, Ga., had no idea he was on the Redskins’ radar when his agent got a call within hours of Paul’s injury asking him to fly to Richmond for a tryout.

After a concussion and full-body cramps sidelined him for all but one game his senior season at Iowa State, Brun was passed over the NFL draft. The Raiders invited him to rookie camp in 2014, only to cut him after three days.

As he watched players he’d grown up with launch pro careers, Redskins Perry Riley and Mack Brown, among them, Brun took a job coaching girls gymnastics and tumbling in Ames, Iowa, played semi-pro ball for the Omaha Mammoths, and prayed, taking care to surround himself with positive people.

Agree dad, Halls health is a real worry. Don't feel confident he's going to make it thru the season myself.

Even if those nagging injuries didn't pop up, there should be real concern about Hall. The team named him starter in this camp.......starter really??? At 31 coming off of double AT surgeries this team seems to be relying on his knowledge/experience more than his abilities at this point. I'm extremely concerned!!
