YEA OK!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! LMFAO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Before Wednesday's practice left tackle Andrew Whitworth said there was no change in his situation, which is to say it is unclear. But he said he thinks he'll start out the week listed as doubtful for Sunday's opener (1 p.m.-Cincinnati's Channel 12) in Chicago...
One of the many reasons Bengals wide receiver Andrew Hawkins (ankle) is disappointed starting the season on the injured reserve-recall list is because he doesn't get to go against Bears new coach Marc Trestman. He says Trestman gave him his shot in the pros when he signed him for the CFL's Montreal club.
He says Trestman, a highly-regarded offensive mind, is going to test the Bengals linebacking corps with a bevvy of check-down passes.
"In fact, he encourages it," Hawkins said. "His philosophy is, 'You can't go broke taking a profit.' Always take what the defense gives you. A check down is a very positive play in his eyes."
Hawkins, by the way, says he's way ahead of schedule but agreed with the move. The problem is that could return anywhere between two to seven weeks. Now he can't come back until Week 9 against the Dolphins in Miami in that Oct. 31 Thursday night game....
The linebackers were a big focus in the locker room Wednesaday as they scramble to fill the vacuum of their best cover backer, Emmanuel Lamur, lost for the year with a dislocated shoulder. Calling 230-pound safety Taylor Mays "a clone," of the 240-pound Lamur, middle linebacker Rey Mauauluga says Mays is going to get some snaps in the nickel with WILL backer Vontaze Burfict. Mays has played some backer-like spots, but he says it's the first time he's played nickel....
Bengals head coach Marvin Lewis said the other day that Maualuga is having the best preseason of his five NFL seasons. Maualuga says some of the pressure has been taken off him because since Burfict never comes off the field, he's the guy now wearing the radio helmet. And while Burfuct sets the huddle and calls the signals, Mauauluga sets the front.
"Now I can just go play," Maualuga said.
TE's and RB will be licking their chops running away from this stiff in coverage....
