I haven’t looked, but my buddy just sent me a text saying he is eligible immediately at Miami.:L

Did CFB add a rule saying if you aren’t good enough to be a starter, you can transfer without penalty?

Didn't he get his degree from OSU already though?

He is only like a sophomore and probably a redshirt freshman as far as football goes.

Don't think so.

If he would have stuck around, I think he could have finished his degree before the 2019 CFB season, though

It cracks me up — these guys like Martell and Fields being granted ‘hardship waivers’ for immediate eligibility and the only hardship was......they weren’t good enough to be the starting QB at the school they were at.

NCAA may as well open the flood gates and just allow Free Agency in CFB.

It's becoming ridiculous. Especially with QB's. There is no hardship here. You picked your college, so stick with it.

I’m indifferent with this kid however you convinced me he had somehow graduated back when he first entered the portal

Good. Sitting a year is dumb, if they have a chance to play the game they love somewhere else then good for them. If they want to require coaches to sit a year when they change schools then maybe I'll change my mind

I was saying he will graduate this year (I thought after spring semester, but I guess it would have been summer?)

Got it now.
Only reason I know who he is was that he and Tyjon Lindsey committed together to osu... It appears for both the highlight of their football careers this far has been the recruiting process

Yeah this is ridiculous. Good for him, don't get me wrong, but the NCAA is a joke.

Personally, I am fine with people transferring and being eligible to play right away with the only exception that you can't transfer to anyone in conference nor anyone noncon on the schedule for at least the next 2 years.

In no other application would someone use the contract of 1 person to somehow justify the breaking of a completely different contract that's actually not even related.

They are working in the same field, towards the same goal, and one part of the contract is bogus. You can find many examples of that in life

The coaching thing was just a sidenote anyway. The rule is dumb. I remember a LB transferred out of Ohio State to go back home bc a family member got sick. Had to sit out for a year. That's just stupid. Limit the number of transfers to prevent kids from being crazy fickle but the first one should absolutely not be penalized
