They were negotiating a contract extension just yesterday, but apparently their price tags were too far apart. I'm surprised that with all the money in NYC they couldn't make it happen. It makes it look like St. Johns isn't committed to winning, fair or not.
I wouldn't be upset to see him at SU. Too bad this is happening a couple years too soon.

yeah I agree with this. I think St Johns believes they're bringing back the glory days just by hiring Mullin when it obviously isn't that easy. Mullin has never coached in his life and hasn't been a fixture in NYC in decades. I would be surprised if he has any success at all.They should have kept Lavin. SJU took one step forward getting Lavin. Chirs Mullin's is two steps backwards.
