It's probably the spotlight getting to them. They are used to it in a sense but not this much chosen as the odds on favorite. Scherzer and Fister seem fine but the rest of the team is out of whack. I think Harper is savoring the moment as well. So a few are rising to the occasion as they have been there or love the spotlight. I think they will come around and be fine Scherzer just needs to be what James Shields was for the Royals young guys and calm them down and be a leader. Kind of take the lead and focus all the questions to him as being the leader of that staff. Fister is fine becuase he knows his place, Zimmerman and Strasburg are used to being at the top of that rotation and carrying it in a sense, so they are adjusting to the idea that someone else is there to carry that burden. It's all about embracing their roles. Much like every team this year it's still a work in progress.
They are also getting some of their players back and clubhouse guys back in Werth and soon to be followed by Rendon. We'll see what they are made of but it is too soon to tell. Just look at Kershaw and King Felix they are struggling just a tad as well. As the weather warms up everyone does and that includes your elite pitchers, and it gives time for team to mesh and players to embrace their spot on the team.
Let's face it, the Red Sox line up is a bitch and they are going to rough up a lot of good pitchers this year so it's hard to get a read on yesterday's performance. Now if Boston had a little pitching of it's own they might do some damage this fall.
It's been fairly widely reported Stras is fairly weak when it comes to the mental aspect of the game. Gotta wonder if being the No. 3 guy is something he can handle?
Strasburg has been overrated since the day he came into the league. ESPN has treated him and talked about him as a #1 shutdown ace since he got drafted and I have yet to Fucking see it.
