Exactly. Imo, the Lakers are in a good spot. They have good young talent and good young coach. Maybe they are able to land a couple of top FA's in the off season and meybe they aren't.

If they do land a couple of top guys...great, it throws a turbo charger on the rebuild and we Lakers fans get to see them be a relevant playoff threat as early as next season.

If they don't...great, they still have some really good young talent, a really good young coach and Lakers fans get to see them all grow up together.

I'm fine with either one.
Yep.

It's nice to have options.

If you were to land 2 top guys, would you have to renounce KCP?

I know you would have to get Randle off the books and cancel Brook's cap hold.

But, what about KCP?

Again: I think you will sign Boogie and another good player.

I'm pretty sure KCP would be gone too.

If I understand what I've read and heard correctly, to pull it off, the Lakers have to unload Randle and Clarkson, not bring back Lopez or KCP (unless they're willing to re-sign at a vet min.) and do something with Deng's contract (either trade it or strecth it).

I am just SOOOOOOO not down for Boogie's sometimes effed-up attitude...

Yikes....

That's a lot of juggling.

But, doable with the stretch provision.

I actually like what I've seen from KCP.

But, you kick him to the curb for a star player.

Agree.

But, look at some of the teams currently ahead of them.

Minny, underachieving also.

Blazers, Pelicans....meh.

Not playing great.

Denver, Utah, Grizz.....

Team altering injuries that will cause their best player to miss a month or more.

We are a smidge less than a quarter of the way thru the Season.

With less than 20 games played, they have a ton of time to right this ship.

I just don't know if they are contenders with this cast of characters.

I agree.

I just think they need to get to 3 to have a realistic chance at making the Finals. Any lower and they either see GS in the second round or possibly worse, have to play every game 7 on the road.

He's been less brooding lately.

But, I get it.

I think Ingram, Boogie, Ball and Kuz would be entertaining as hell.

interesting line-up to be sure. i'd say the spacing would be great on the offensive end...
Yeah.

Boogie would be a force in the paint and would still have the freedom to exercise his trigger finger by launching threes....lol

Plus, it would be fascinating to watch Cousins and Daddy Ball share the same atmosphere.

Boogie has no chill.

Lavar isn't stupid.

So, I think he'd be less.....hyperverbal....lol

I am not convinced Boogie leaves.

He seemed genuinely upset when he got traded from Sacramento. He even hinted that he wanted to resign there. He may be strangely loyal. Not sure if it is the organization or the largest paycheck he is loyal to, but still. I think NO has a good chance to resign him if they don't trade him away.

I don't doubt for a second that Boogie was loyal to the Kings, nor that he was emotionally invested in the City of Sacto.

But, I think 50% of that outrage was based on them lying to him.

25% on him being ineligible for that 200 mil extension.

And the other 25% due to the fact that he really embraced the Kings and he felt rejected.

Now that the 200 mil is off the table, what's the financial hit if he bolts?

Same as George, right?

Is he still inline for a Blake Griffin type deal?

I don't know.

I just think normal person logic may not apply to Boogie Cousins. I am not going to try and predict what he will do. All I know is that he will sign a huge contract somewhere.

I think it was Zach Lowe who said recently that the Pelicans may just sign Boogie to the max - and ride out the next few years with the 2 bigs. It makes sense to me - they are at least interesting and have a punchers chance to win a round in the playoffs.
