i decided to watch this since it is considered canon.

I'm watching the first ep now, and the droids are making it REALLY hard to watch. Does it get better?

Yes, but it takes a couple seasons. I really didn't like Asoka to begin with but she gets better too. Power through

I watched a few eps...

The droids continue to act like concrete loafers. But EVERY character says "I have a bad feeling about this" about 3 times per episode. I am not sure which of these is more annoying...

I've heard this from numerous people and I believe it to be true.

I never really got that into this series, but I would watch it every now and again and there are definitely some very entertaining episodes that deliver.

I got through 3 and decided other shows were better worth my time. Because of the reasons you pointed out, it just felt too childish and the "comedy" made me want to ingest rat poison. Cartoons can be done without the need to cater to young children.

Tried to watch these but it came off way too childish. Made it through 2 episodes before callin it quits.

I watched 4 or 5 episodes for the same reason not too long ago myself. I heard there were some important moments in this series as well as Rebels so I planned to watch both in order. I never officially gave up on it. I just never got around to watching the next episode yet because the few that I watched didn't really appeal to me at all. Maybe someday.

I decided to keep watching and after 5 seasons I'd say this series for the most part does get quite good. Most episodes are not as childish as the first few. A lot of episodes get quite dark, more so than any of the movies in fact. After the first hand full of episodes it got decent then just seemed to get better and better and didn't seem like a kids show at all. The end of season 4 and the beginning of season 5 were really good and then I'm not sure what the fuck happened but right in the middle of season 5 there was a long stretch of episodes that definitely seemed like they were meant for kids. It was like night and day, but then season 5 finished pretty strong and it seems like it's starting to lay some ground work for Rebels which I hear is better than Clone Wars.

I'd say it's worth the watch but just be prepared for some prequel-esque cringe worthy stuff and characters inserted occasionally even in the good episodes.

So I am still slowly watching this. I am currently about mid-way through S4.

OMG, does it abandon it's kid-centric early feel. I am continually blown away by the massive death-toll that exists in every episode. I would venture to say this is one of the most violent shows ever on any TV format.

Further, I do REALLY like it. In fact, it is ALMOST saving the prequels. It is making me want to. Go back and watch Attack of the Clones and Revenge of the Sith again, just to see what I missed knowing the side characters so much better now.

So I just finished S5. Holy shit that last arc was epic. Anyone who gave up on this series as I did, I STRONGLY recommend you go back and power through the early episodes. Outside of the battle droids, which are a continual annoyance, and one arc in the middle of S5, it is a very strong addition to the universe.

They announced today at SDCC that they’re making a final season of Clone Wars. This is the excuse I needed to rewatch the whole thing again. I don’t even remember how it ended.

I think it is expected out when Disney launches their streaming service (late ‘19?).

I forgot they were doing this. Thanks for the bump. I don’t have Disney, though, so it doesn’t really matter atm...

I'm through Season 1. I get the complaints about the 'kiddish' quality and the silly dialogue but in a weird way many of the best moments in Season 1 involve that charm. Jar Jar as a 'Jedi' and Jar Jar as a 'diplomat' both led to some of the better episodes of the season as if he is the Star Wars version of Domino. Overall grade of Season 1 is a B. Only slightly below something like the Mandalorian, tbh, and partially because its so visually unappealing by comparison. Another thing holding back the season is that I know many of these character live beyond the series and that greatly impacts the suspense.

S1 was very different from the bulk of the rest of the series. They seem to have made a conscious decision to change their target demo from 14 year olds to true SW fans after S1. The stories get darker and the easter eggs become thick.
