SportsHoopla's Music Tournament - Topic

I am interested to see if SportsHoopla Tourney would work in the Music forum. Here, since there is no "off-season".

I want to do a big tournament - like 32-man bracket or bigger. I want to know what the first tournament should be about?

Should we do common Top lists themes? Bands in certain genres or overall, Guitarists, Vocalists, Songs, Theme of a song, etc.

Or should we do something different that we wouldn't find elsewhere? Like the weird topics of threads on here, like containing the word _____. or something like that.

What should be the topic of this first tournament? My original thought was

"Classic Rock Bands/Songs from (60s, 70s, 80s)".

Sounds enjoyable enough. I’d say do bands from each decade, then a final tournament with the winners of each.

Maybe consider doing it in the general forum? The music forum seems pretty slow lately.

Yeah, I agree with TDM in that this is good idea but should be pitched in the general forum.

Don't really need to add our screen names as you'd be able to see our suggestions in our post anyway....but I digress...

My choice would be anything but rap/hip hop, modern country, gospel, religious.

Preferable categories in no certain order:

Jazz (any type)
R & B/Soul/Old School (motown/stax/atlantic/phil-a)
Rock & Roll (50's, 60's 70's 80's 90's)
Classic Rock /Prog Rock
Surf/Instrumentals
Punk/New Wave
Blues (delta/chicago/texas)
Avant Garde/Experimental/Ambient
Indie/Alternative
Classical (any type)
Reggae/Ska/Dub
Country Western/Bluegrass (original stuff)
Folk/Acoustic/World
Pop
Disco
Film Scores / Movie Soundtracks

Yeah... I like this idea. assign a decade to the 4 brackets and have them go at each other in the Final Four.

And, you can do the whole post it on the general forum, if you feel like it.

This forum should be more than a discussion board jukebox, so anything that isn't just youtube clips of songs that {fill in the blank} works for me.
