Talking about Russ taking a pay-cut to make the team better, Mike Holmgren also brought it up…. It’s how Brady kept the Patriots competitive for so many years… Evidently when a QB gets the big payday it’s been 20 something years since that team won a Super Bowl under those conditions… I think they said 26-27 years but don’t quote me, but it’s been a long time…

Now, in this case, I actually agree with you. I even broke it down during Wilson's last negotiations, no QB has won the Super Bowl in the cap era with a higher than 13.1% of the cap for their team. Wilson is currently going to be 16.9% against Seattle next year. This is why I had hoped Wilson would re-sign for $25 million per instead of $35 million per.

13.2% for Steve Young... I always thought he wasn't ever given the credit he deserved when being mentioned with the all time greats... I feel Young was a top 5-10 all time QB to have ever played the game... Shows just how good he was with that 13.1% salary w/ the team in '94...

The thing I find interesting is the insistence that Brady purposefully took less money. He currently takes up position #2, #3 and #6 on this list. Brady averaged $13.3 million per season during his career while Peyton Manning averaged $13.8 million per season (as an example). The numbers are even more amazing when thinking that as the #1 overall vs. #199 Brady earned significantly less at the beginning of his career than Peyton. Brady didn't lose any money anytime he "took a pay-cut" to help sign someone else - he just restructured to open immediate cap space. Which is evident in the fact that 78% of his career $292 million were various types of bonuses (Peyton made only 44% of his career $248 million as a bonus).

Now, if the Rams win next week, the number combined from Stafford's cap hit and Goff's dead cap will crush the previous spot. Which can (and probably will) change the narrative on high priced QBs.

True but would that eventually hurt the league? Because it wouldn't be sustainable... Teams would just go all in for a SB run of 1 or 2 years... Then they would eventually need to rebuild but won't have much capital to do so with... A team wins the SB and then isn't that compettive for for another 5 or 6 years due to a rebuild... That wouldn't be fun for me as a fan...

I agree. Though, I do think that people have an unrealistic opinion of how effective it is to expect to win a SB with a QB on their rookie deal. Under the current cap structure - here's the QBs who've won on their rookie deal:

I'm a huge huge Wilson fan and critic. I like Russ alot but

A) I just feel he listens too much to his hype about launch codes, deep ball.... too much and tries to do difficult stuff. Like Miami when he tried to fit it into Quadruple coverage.

B) And this is Just me and who I am. I feel that he has run its course and maybe it time to someone new....

See what they can do, see if they can create a dynasty...

But it's weird. I was Watching the Skills Comp and he looked in Sync there. Rarely missing a throw.
