So, one voter has come forward with his explanation and I honestly don’t have much of a problem with his rationale…

Awful Announcing - Kansas City Star’s Vahe Gregorian becomes first Hall of Fame voter to explain he didn’t vote for Bill Belichick

“In fact, I didn’t vote against Belichick or Kraft. I voted for the three senior candidates: Ken Anderson, Roger Craig and L.C. Greenwood. You could call that rationalizing, I suppose. And I’m suddenly reminded of the fortune cookie wisdom that you should never try to explain, since your friends don’t need it and your enemies won’t believe it anyway.”

The Hall of Fame voting has turned into the Pro Bowl voting. It means absolutely nothing. I get spygate and deflategate but we have a voter who doesn't even remember who he actually voted for
Yeah, that was weird. If you aren't passionate about it, you shouldn't be a voter.

Maybe people should focus on the key take-away from this:

50 NFL respected people who have followed the game for a very long time voted. More than 10 of those people didn't vote for Belichick.

At this point we're all assuming he got 39 votes. Maybe he only got 30. :noidea:

Thanks for this. I didn't know voters were limited to only 3 votes and this is perfectly understandable. If people read this then they should just STFU about this apparent snub.

Pete Rose was banned from baseball ..that was his punishment for gambling.
Belichick/Patriot's were given thier punishment for Spygate and they paid it.

But what you have here is HOF committee deciding that they have a right to issue thier own form of Justice on Belichick.

That is what is wrong and why this is very different from what happened to Pete Rose.

How many times did he vote for those guys in the years before? Did these guys only come up this year?

I would like see what articles this guy has written about Belichick over the years.

Well I never understood why people delay voting in the first place. If the writer feels Roger Craig is a Hall of Famer then he should just vote for him when he is eligible. But I guess with only 3 votes and all time greats becoming eligible I can see why they pass on more marginal guys like Craig when they become eligible.

So if this writer believes his votes should go to those running out of eligibility that is not a vote to keep BB out or to send a message, or as payback. He clearly explained his reasoning and I'm sure he's not alone.

Half the quote is about not explaining!

One of those other players waiting another year was the better option. Hey, slight Belichick if you want but don't pussy out about it.

But this is what they all did. All those guys who did not vote for belicheck had to but thier votes somewhere ..no?

The senior candidates are a different set of guys every year no? ..so by his logic he has voted for every senior candidate since they started doing it.

Sorry, I'm just not buying it.

That was my take and watching guys like Drew Pearson & Cliff Harris have to wait for the “senior vote” to get in when they should have been in long before only reinforces that take. I’m sure you've seen a few Washington players deal with that as well.

It’s at the very best a flawed process.

Still waiting on Joe Jacoby. This may never happen and I'll never understand that.

It looks like after this week, people are finally realizing that the Pro Bowl and Hall of Fame voting procedures are totally political and a joke. These are basically popularity contests and meaningless exercises. So maybe that’s a good thing?

Are they truly "respected".How did they get a vote to begin with?

No comparison between the two...sorry, there just isn't. The one voter to confirm he did not vote for Bill explained it perfectly. In his opinion. He voted for three players ( L C Greenwood, Ken Andersen & Roger Craig) all who he thinks deserve to be in the HOF and this was the last opportunity for each to get in, and knowing Bill will get in. he voted the way he did.

No comparison and just for you iggloo.
Consider with SB team replacements, Dallas now has the most Pro Bowler (8) than any other team.

Zero comparison between the two.
