50% off...

Oilers news. Sheldon Souray is in play. Put on re-entry waivers today.

Souray’s salary this year and next is $4.5M. Half-off discount if picked up on re-entry.

Based on what the scouts were saying while he was in the AHL...I don't think many teams will be leaping at that. 2.25 is still a decent amount of money

You know, as crazy as it sounds, I wouldn't mind Feaster taking a flyer on Souray. The Flames need another defenseman with Pardy on the shelf and for 2.25 million, it's not that price restrictive. Never hurts having another bomb on the PP.

I guess other possibilities could be Montreal or Vancouver (both teams with several defensemen in sickbay)

A 2.25 2 week rental? No, thanks.

lol...Quick on the trigger, nazzy. It was reported that Hamhuis might take the morning skate today, so obviously he's feeling better which is great news.

Yeah, and I also read Ballard is ahead of schedule as well. Tanev is playing well too. No need for Souray.

This is the second time he's cleared re-entry waivers. Why did Edmonton even bother?

I had assumed that that a taker lined up. but we are dealing with Lowebellini, so who the hell knows.
Otherwise, it could be a timing thing... lots of injuries out there, some teams are recently loading up for the stretch, maybe someone didn't want to get left behind.

the worst part was that Souray was finally a high profile UFA at the time that actually went to Edmonton. the relationship went pretty sour pretty fast.

I'm surprised actually that nobody took a chance on him.

Yeah the tag is high for next year, but at half price for a stretch run this year, I think the guy has the talent to help a team if he can keep his mouth shut.

Edm would be on the hook for half on next year's salary (and cap hit) too.
He must REALLY be shitting the bed in the AHL.

Ahh, OK. I thought Edmonton would only be on the hook for the rest of this year.

Too bad the Sabres didn't go after him. We're already paying Captain Craig $3.5M to be a healthy scratch, so $2.75M for Souray in Portland would be a deal by comparison :L
