Looked at the conference records since Nebraska joined the B1G, and these are the conference records of the top teams in the conference as of today.

Ohio State- 16-5, 76.2%
Nebraska- 16-5 (16-6 with ccg), 76.2% (72.7% with ccg)
Michigan State- 15-6,(15-7 with ccg), 71.4% (68.1% with ccg)
Wisconsin- 14-7 (16-7 with ccg), 63.6% (69.6% with ccg)
Michigan- 14-7, 66.7%
Penn State- 14-7, 66.7%

Against these teams, Nebraska is 8-3 (8-4 with ccg), the toughest teams in the conference. They are just numbers, BUT, they are numbers of WINS and LOSSES, which is all that matter. Think about it...

2-1 vs Michigan (who is sub-par)
1-1 vs tOSU (who was on probation)
1-2 vs Wisky (Probably should be 0-3 if we didn't have a comeback win)
2-0 vs MSU (we have their # I guess)

0-2 vs quality SEC teams in the Cap/Outback bowl
0-2 in CCG

^ those 4 were all blowout losses.

that's a big 6-8 that stands out in my head. Let alone barely winning and losing definitively.

Right on que captain negativity spouts off. Sorry buddy, Bo is not getting fired, and we have a legit chance of playing for the B1G title again.

I agree I think he saves his job, however with Bo as captain we will continue to sail off into mediocrity. If you're okay with that than I don't want to hear you complain about consistent 4 loss seasons and shitting the bed on the national stage. Some of us have grown tired of those performances and would like this program to veer in an upright direction rather than flat line.

I will not complain about 4 loss seasons, especially when we are winning 9/10 games every year, at the top of our conference. People like you where calling for TO's head when winning in the Big 8 meant beating the bums only to lose to Oklahoma, thankfully we stuck with him. Am I okay with mediocrity? No, but Nebraska football is not mediocre. We embody tradition, hard work, and dedication, which is what I see in our team, and we are still very relevant. Stop being so dang negative and support the team you claim to support.

Few things here...

-Tom never lost more than 3 games a year, Pelini has never lost 3 or less.
-Tom never got blown out or embarrassed in his losses, Pelini gets out coached terribly to the point its a blow out at least 2 times a year.
-Tom RARELY got beat by far inferior football teams, Pelini has lost to (ISU, NW, Wash, Minn) off the top of my head.
-We are not a top 25 team, thus we are not really that relevant.
-Embodying tradition, hard work, and dedication would mean our team wouldn't lay down in the second half of the UCLA game and look to the sidelines puzzled.

I understand you're trying to be optimistic but being a 'good' fan doesn't mean you have to blindly support every action of the program/team. You're allowed to think and interpret whatever you please, and some are not happy with the current state of the program. I realize Nebraska is still very much in the running for a B1G CCG appearance and potential title, but to act like we are favorites or in the drivers seat is a bit of a stretch. As a 'fan' I would like the program/team to take a step forward and show me that they can compete with the best teams and win a couple of those big games. Until that is shown there is no reason to believe Nebraska is anything but mediocre. We beat a struggling Michigan Program so it's great that we got the win, but we are still a long ways from becoming a premier program again.

I just hate to think what the margin of victory would be for OSU in B1G Champ Game, 20+ or more?

osu will try to put 70 on us. We will probably be ranked lower 20 and they would need to impress voters and bcs so they will smack us.

factor in a injury riddled Nebraska team and it isn't a good recipe for us at all.

Anyone want to put up the score differential in losses for the above teams compared to us? You put up one side of the argument; let's see the other. I believe that might be more telling of why us fans get so pissed off at Bo rather than why we should be happy with Bo.

If Nebraska has only 2 losses going into the CCG they'll be ranked higher than lower 20's. More like mid-teens.

Nebraska can't take another loss and get to the CCG anyway, unless Minnesota were to lose another and Mich St were to lose to Nebraska and then another.

In 2011:

Ohio St had a +3.5 scoring margin. We won by 7.
Michigan had a +15.9 scoring margin. They beat us by 28.
Michigan St had +11.9. We beat them by 21.
Wisconsin had +23.3. They beat us by 31.
Penn St had -.1. We beat them by 3.

In 2012:

Ohio St had +14.3. They beat us by 25.
Michigan had +10. We beat them by 14.
Michigan St had +3.7. We beat them by 4.
Wisconsin had +10.8. We beat them by 3 and then lost by 39.
Penn St had +10. We beat them by 9.

Nebraska's scoring margin in those 2 years were +3.5 and +2.7.

Good stats Jed. I was thinking more simply here in my original comment, like along the lines of how bad do we lose compared to the others on this list?

(against conference opponents only, no CCG games)

OSU - average points lost by: 5 largest point margin on a loss: 7
WIS - average points lost by: 5 largest margin on a loss: 7
MSU - average points lost by: 5 largest margin on a loss: 18
MU - average points lost by: 10 largest margin on a loss: 23
NU - average points lost by: 19 largest margin on a loss: 31
PSU - average points lost by: 19 largest margin on a loss: 38

The only difference between us and PSU is they got blown out worse by OSU than we did by Michigan. You could argue both ways that we got to a CCG but then our totals would be even worse if you factored in how bad we got destroyed by Wisconsin.
