We say goodbye to a former Florida Gator (always a sad momenet) :-)

I was hoping Patton could at least make our PS after having some experience with Tampa last year...

We signed TE Dan Light. Seems like we are really after some TE depth as this is the second TE signed this past week.

Best of luck to Patton, and I hope he catches on somewhere

In a way, I am happy because I think this bodes well for Jordan Norwood

.If they would only cut the football in half - Soloman would have been a wise acquisition.

For some of these guys they are the victim of just being in some of our positions that are deep. Such as RB I think a guy like Bibbs makes about half the teams in this league as a 3rd RB. On the Broncos though looks like he is a practice squad guy. Same with our Linebacking core in good chance some of the guys we drafted last year like Nelson or Barrow are going to struggle to make this team. Which to me is a bit funny considering before Trevathan and Marshall were coming back many questioned our linebacking depth thinking it would be a huge weakness. So far all of those guys except one have scored a positive grade according to PFF.

I was hopeful Solomon, in all his wisdom, might have been the explosive punt returner we need. Not to be. Good luck wherever your speedy legs take you, Mr Patton.

It has been a long time since we have had that reliable great punt returner. I'm guessing if Special Teams continues to be a struggle this year that Elway will have that near the top of his priority list of things to get in the off season.

Good post. I think some don`t understand what a hard position that is to fill. You can`t just take a wr/rb/db who has great hands in the receiving game and just plug and play him as a punt returner. First off, he`s not getting this pretty spiral floating to him, if he drops it,it not an incompletion it`s a fumble. The guy has to be used to catching balls that are end over end and can have crazy spin coming off kickers foot. The guy ( talking punts) has to be very confident, be aware of where he is on the field to make right decision whether to field ball or let it bounce. Most of the return guys with expierience can pretty much gage by the spin/height,etc how the ball might react if it hits the turf, thus the decision to field it is huge ( we`ve seen too many por decisions with Denver for awhile). IMO the coaches aren`t looking for a guy who can break a punt the distance, its a guy that can make good decisions, has good instincts, is very confident in his ability and is aware of his surroundings. If you get a few yds on return that`s a plus not a necessity. Those guys are hard to find and they more than likely have had alot of expierience in college. Prob is you would like a guy that can also fill in at wr/db somewhere on your final roster also. They are hard to come by and that is a very important position in a very important field position game. It can cost you a win for sure. Hope Bolden fits that mold. Tired of seeing Denver with lousy field position after punts and the other team starting at their own 30 or beyond last 10 yrs:)

Excellent post, Randy. I'd suggest that the player we currently have who meets your job description is Isaiah Burse. In my memory he made good decisions of when to fair catch, when to let it go and when to attempt a return. Going by memory, he fumbled once and that one went OB.

Thanks guys much appreciated. So far it does look like Bolden and Burse are the front runners with Bolden my " confident " pk with his play at end of last season. Need to see more of Burse though. Prob is time is running out. Unfortunately we might have to go Sanders if those to don't hang and that makes me nervous injury wise. Hopefully either of those two give Denver solid play so it doesn't come to that.
