Lol... This is John Elway we're talking about here. When has he ever done what he should? He just can't help himself.

All of his other choices have been poor to awful though, and Lock has looked good as soon as he got in there. He can't screw this one up, can he?

I think there is a good chance Rivers retires. Not that he will want to, but that his options may not be as great as people think.

Oh yes, yes he can... Gotta be one of the worst GMs in the NFL.

Rivers 'permanently' moves out of San Diego

So now that Rivers won't be able to commute to LA anymore, all options are on the table. Moving to Florida was either a middle finger to Spanos or a middle finger to California and it's insane taxes, or both.

Rivers has suffered through 15 years of GMs drafting one offensive lineman in the 1st round (DJ Fluker who is now in Seattle). He hasn't had a solid offensive line and running game to help him since 2006, when Marlon McCree destroyed a 14-2 season.

So he's from Alabama, and I can think of one team close to home with a great O-line and running game and two mediocre QBs on their roster (both of whom are free agents). Don't think for a second that Rivers throws 20 picks with a solid O-line and running game.

Hope Rivers can get a ring with the Titans. What say you? Where does he go?

Tom Brady will have a few suitors because he's Tom Brady, but for the most part, that class of Ben, Rivers, Eli is over. Eli should retire. Ben is going to give it a go in '20 coming off elbow surgery, but no guarantees he finishes the season. Rivers...I no longer trust him very much. He was 12-4 last yr and they couldn't follow it up in any fashion....fwiw, he was sacked 32 times last year.

One of these QB needy teams is going to sign Bridgewater, or Dalton. I tend to agree TN is a good landing spot, but I'm not sure they're ready to move on from Tannehill.

I say he stays in LA, or maybe MIA who could be looking for a bridge QB for a yr if they take Tua….Seems like Fitz would be the known option.

It just seems very likely that he goes to Miami and they draft tua. In reality they could just keep fitzmagic, but likely see rivers as a better mentor

CBS Sports' Jason La Canfora reports there's "a lot of buzz" about Tampa Bay being a possible landing spot for Philip Rivers.
Rivers recently packed up his home in San Diego and moved cross country to Florida to be closer to his family (in Alabama). That doesn't necessarily make the Bucs his first choice, but the declining 38-year-old impending free agent will undoubtedly have fewer options than past years following his fewest touchdowns thrown (23) since 2007. Rivers isn't the worst one-year stopgap if Tampa Bay fails to iron out a deal with Jameis Winston. Tom Brady, Ryan Tannehill, Marcus Mariota and Teddy Bridgewater will also likely crop up at some point as potential fill-ins under center.

Bucs would be my top guess. Maybe the Panthers.

Dude should just hang 'em up. He's got like 9-10 children's lives he should go be a bigger part of.

That said, you know Elways' gonna be all over him this offseason.

normally, i'd agree that elway would be the first to be whoring himself out in rivers' front yard for his next "acquisition". but i think they finally found their guy in Lock, so elway probably won't be (or at least, SHOULDN'T be) pursuing him

Yeah Bucs are the only team that makes sense.

No other team is going to want him with as bad as he looked last season.

Rivers is done and so is Arians offensive style. So they kind of fit.

i tend to agree. is there a market for him?

teams are having success going with young guys out of college. Rivers is pushing 40 and his decision making has always been questionable.

Interesting that both Brady and Rivers might be heading for their "Montana in KC" part of their careers.

Brady may have suitors because of his name. I'm not sure rivers will have any

As someone who's lived in both San Diego (North County) and northern Alabama (about 10 mins from where he's from in Athens), I can tell you this much: if I had his money, I don't give a shit if taxes are 50% in California, I'd never step foot in Alabama again. I still have to go about once every 18 months because family still lives there but holy shit is it depressing.
