Three games out of first in the Division, and two games behind second in the division. Kinda cant afford to lose a game at this point. The lose to Dallas, Detroit and the tie loom large at this point.

Good thing is, aside from the tie breaker against Detroit, we control our own fate.

I really want to make the playoffs. I want to see this team progress. I don't feel like dealing with the circus that is Redskins Park after a failed season or a season that doesn't meet the expectations of some.

I want to build off of the momentum of last year's run, get some more playoff experience for this team, get a D line in FA and/or draft, and really make a run next year.

I don't want to spend the off-season wondering if Kirk earned his keep and Jay on the hot seat.

Wildcard seems like our only chance. Dallas appears they will win the division this year. Their turn to take the seat in the musical chair east. Sickens me to think but hey,,they're playing really good. Hats off. Not sure what they have in Dak but I still aint sold (not asking for a debate by the Cowboy fans).. just my opinion. Has a great line and great rookie RB... which opens up the whole field for him with time to find a receiver... who is usually wide open, but hey,,kids playing well.

Seems all games now are must wins for us just to stay relevant in the wildcard discussion. GB is coming in here with basically their season on the line. Hate to think we could miss the playoff because of a missed chip shot FG but that's the reality of blowing a game that was right there to win.

Two games out of second in the division? Huh? Giants are 6-3 & Redskins are 5-3-1. That sounds like a 1/2 game according to my math.

Also - it is incorrect to state that the Redskins can't afford to lose another game. If they lose just 2 more this season they will be 10-5-1 which certainly will get them a WC. Even 9-6-1 likely gets them. The only real competition for the WC at this time appears to be from w/i the division & the Cards.

Giants appear to have a easy remaining scheduled but you never know. The Eagles have a lot tougher schedule that hopefully starts with a loss in Seattle this week. The Cards have a pretty easy schedule w/some tough teams but also have not been playing well this season & the Redskins could help their cause by beating the Cards in early Dec. I don't really see any of the other non-division winning NFC teams being better than 9-7.

Should be a fun couple of months.

I think that circus that you are referring to basically left with the arrival of SM. Like any good FO they don't radically change their plans simply because they don't meet all of their goals like making the playoffs. They understand that this is influenced by many factors - some of which they can't control. We need to stop viewing this team like it was say 5-6 years ago.

Regardless of the outcome of this season I believe that they will be in position next year to make a run. Even at the beginning of this season I felt that they were more geared for a run next year instead of the current on. Nothing has changed my mind.

I also have no doubt that Cousins will be retained and likely given a long term extension. His game has progressed nicely over the last month or so basically sealing the deal. Issues like red zone success can be corrected & a lot of doesn't just fall on him. He will be back. Same for Gruden if the team at least finished around .500 or better. You don't fire a coach coming off a playoff appearance unless the following season is a complete disaster (highly unlikely at this pt). Again - try to stop viewing this in terms of what say the team would have done 5+ years ago.

Hopefully they enjoy success over the next several months so that we don't have to worry about how they handle negative issues moving forward.

I'm not and I agree with your premise, but the leaks that some in the organization are thinking about moving on from Kirk concern me. What else does he have to do?

There was all kind of drama and finger pointing around Skins park THIS year, and that was from an 0-2 start against two very good teams.

Understand. However - I wonder how much of that drama was real & how much was created by the media. I would never trust a source such as the WP. Their job is to create drama & I would guess that they would rather see the Redskins lose often to help draw additional traffic to their web site (can't imagine many people still buy that scaled down crappy paper anymore).

Putting everything aside. I am concerned about beating the Packers only. We do not have a team, to think about playoffs etc. We need better tackling and a running game. I believe if we can have a little more patients with the RG our Off will take off. Let's beat the Packers first. One game at a time.

I am sure that the team is only focused on the Packers. Doesn't matter what we think since we are not playing the games. I completely disagree with the notion that the Redskins don't have a team to think about the playoffs (talking WC - not division). They were in the playoffs last season, are one of the hottest teams in the last few months & really outside of the NFC-E don't have a lot of competition for the WC beyond the Cards. Of course this could change quickly & a loss against the Packers would put them in a bad position.

I also hope you are not suggesting that they don't have a running game. It looked pretty damn good (not great) against the Vikings and some others but of course it has been inconsistent over the season - need to build off the last game. Pretty similar for the defense. They played outstanding in pretty much all but the 2nd QTR, but that QTR was a disaster. They need to find some type of consistency. They certainly are playing better than in the 1st two games of the season.

Hang on for the ride - should be fun & hopefully leads to the playoffs. HTTR

One game at a time. Our team or any other team could be drastically changed in a couple of weeks. After 5 weeks the Vikings looked like world beaters.

Truth.

Week to week league and health matters.

Useless to look at the schedule any other way.

Next two games are a real test. Playing the Sun nt game & then having to go on the road only 4 days later to play in Dallas. I can't imagine that they will really get in any practice during that time. Even one victory during that time will be a plus.

Like it or not - until proven otherwise they are the best team in the NFL rt now. I sure hope that some folks don't downgrade the Redskins simply because they are not as good as Dallas rt now. Dallas is much further ahead in the devlopment pgm & built to win now. The Redskins are really built to win next year & beyond.

That being said it is still possible for the Redskins to beat them on Thanksgiving. Tough but possible.
