This being the first mystery of the draft and opinions are all over. I'm going to stick to Mac Jones even though now I have some major doubts about that. Watch the Jets will draft Lance or Fields and throw the draft into chaos.

Lance.

I say this because I think the other two are gonna suck for sure. Only somewhat confident Lance will, cuz I don’t know enough about him.

The favorite’s gotta be Fields, the wild card is Jones. I’d be most surprised by Lance. Unless the Jets surprise us all and don’t take Wilson and the Niners snatch him at 3.

My guess would be Fields. Would be pretty surprised if they traded up to three for Mac Jones.

Honestly trying to read between the lines and the tea leaves it's almost impossible to be certain but I'm going with Lance not because of he would be my personal pick but reading between the lines seems to lead me to believe odds are it's Lance.

But it just depends on how far you feel the 9ers would go to create a smokescreen and convince people they aren't taking Jones when they are.

Shanahans had Lance work with their inside man John Beck who prepped Lance in the drills that Shanahan wanted to see and Beck would give Shanahan intel on what Lance was like to work with.

Lance's 2nd pro day was basically a private 49ers workout that other teams could attend and he was even throwing balls to Jordan Matthews which given he's been on the 9ers roster a couple times recently he was probably brought in by the 9ers for the pro day.

That's a lot of effort to go through if you're interest was superficial and you were locked in on Jones.

What I said about Lance applies to Fields as well but he was already working with Beck and OSU had guys he could throw to so Shanahan didn't need to tell Fields to go to Beck or get guys for Fields to throw too.

I just pick Lance over Fields because I think Lance's higher football IQ will give him the edge with Shanahan over Fields.

Even though I feel the 9ers are locked in on Jones narrative is bunk the pick could still end up being Jones and it wouldn't surprise me. He has traits that Shanahan absolutely loves in a QB and when he falls for a player he falls hard.

That will not be chaos..the 49ers would be all over Wilson, so it just righted itself within 1 pick.

I doubt that happens.

Leaning Lance now, just got a feeling it’s him bc he has been in the conversation much. It’s been about Mac or Fields up until recently

Fields or Lance. I'd lean to Fields right now.

I'd say its 60% Mac Jones, 30% Lance, 5% Wilson, 5% Fields

I say 5% Wilson because those are the odds that I give the top 2 not being locked in. The reason I feel lower on Fields is because whatever logic you can use to take Wilson over Fields probably then also applies to the other guys. I think casual logic would suggest that Lawrence and Fields should be 1 and 1a so the reluctance on Fields is over something fairly big.

The reason I think its Jones vs Lance is that there is a real Baker Mayfield vs Josh Allen dynamic here where you have to measure upside with floor.

I voted for Fields but it could easily be Lance or Jones. No matter how this goes Shanahan and Lynch will live or die with this one so they better get it right.

They had best not have traded up without having identified their guy first.

50/50 Fields or Jones. It all depends on what type of QB they're looking for

Personally I would take Fields due to sample size, arm strength, accuracy and mobility. I think in most cases Fields is a top 3 pick but I find it interesting that there are reports that the 49ers were trying to trade for the #5, #4, #3 before calling the Jets for #2. If true, maybe the 49ers didn't go into the trade for Fields because he would be gone by pick 4 or 5.

It wouldn't surprise me if 49ers went with Jones. Jones is a high floor, Day 1 ready and a JimmyG 2.0 but on a rookie contract. Maybe he's just another JimmyG but maybe that's the type of QB Shanahan likes, I mean the 49ers did get to the SB with JG.

Trey Lance ceiling is just as high as Fields, Wilson, and Lawrence but also has the lowest floor out of the top QBs. I just don't see what Lance brings to the table that Fields don't already have

It's all a setup. They're going to draft Sewell out of Oregon and say that Jimmy Garprolrorlorl is their guy and needed better protection to be the HOF QB they know he is!

They had best not have traded up without having identified their guy first.

They poured over film in Jan and Feb so that tells me they had at least seen enough they had at least 3 guys they felt and were comfortable taking at #3. Now that you spend more time on film and seeing these guys in person maybe other guys creep into the discussion if they should leapfrog the guy you had #3 in your rankings at the time because maybe 3-5 on your rankings are all really close.

This is especially true when it comes to Lance because only has tape for 2019 and you really don't know how much he's improved in something like mechanics until his pro day. So if you see Lance at his pro day and his mechanics are way better than they were in 2019 that might cause his stock to rise and be enough to supplant the guy you thought was your number #3.

But no way did they make that kind of trade and say we'll figure out if any of them are worth picking later.
