Honestly not that worried about him against Scherff 1 on 1...it's all about Kory and who he's matching up against and I'm sure the Jets will be opportunistic about that.

Be a nice time to start being a trend changer for the better. We've seen the opposite of that coin enough.

Excerpt

Power rankings are good Internet fodder and all, but if you’re like me you’d prefer to examine some cold, hard facts rather than a compilation of opinions. One simple way to judge a team is by scoring differential. Last year, the Redskins were outscored by 137 points, the third-worst performance in the NFL. They are still in the negative but just at minus-7, right in the middle of the league at 16th.

A more complex method for ranking teams is with the DVOA metric used by Football Outsiders. They derive the number by comparing a team’s performance against the NFL average on a play by play basis, taking into account such factors as the quality of the opposition. A DVOA of zero is average, a positive percentage is above average and a negative means a team has performed worse than average.

Last year the Redskins finished with a dismal -26.7%, 28th in the leage. Through Week 5 the Redskins stand a slightly above average +2.7%, 15 in the NFL.

Nobody should be throwing a party for the Redskins being towards the lower part of the middle of the pack. They still have major flaws and still appear to be capable of losing to any team at any time. And it’s we’ve only about a third of the way through the season so sample size is still not very large. But they do appear to be headed in the right direction and coming into the season that’s really all a reasonable fan could ask.

Tarik...

The Redskins' ridiculously long list of injured players might be about to get shorter—and not a moment too soon. Here’s a quick update from the early portion of Wednesday's practice. (Reporters are only permitted to watch stretching and individual work.)

  • WR DeSean Jackson (hamstring) participated in individual drills. He seemed to be running a little harder than last week. Jackson has been sidelined since the second drive of the opener.
  • TE Jordan Reed (concussion) watched from the sideline in a ball cap. He was not present at practice at all last week. So ... progress?
  • CB Chris Culliver (knee) participated in individual drills. He missed Sunday’s game in Atlanta.
  • DeAngelo Hall (toe) did not participate in individual drills. He tried to practice early last week, but backed off. Hall got hurt against the Giants.
  • CB Bashaud Breeland (shoulder) participated in individual drills, which was mildly surprising. Coach Jay Gruden said that he was concerned about Breeland, who got hurt in Atlanta and woke up very sore on Monday.
  • RB Matt Jones (toe) did individual work. He was hurt late against the Falcons.
  • OT Trent Williams (unspecified) was in pads and appeared as though he would practice. But he removed his helmet after stretching and watched individual drills—and didn’t seem happy about it.
  • DE Jason Hatcher (unspecified) also was not participating. The 33-year-old has been taking days off since training camp to rest and recover.
Jay Gruden will provide an update after practice. The team will also release each players’ practice participation this afternoon, so stay tuned.

Thought Trents injury was more a neck thing but the spine is a part of that

Mixed comments from DJax.

If there's really a question, my feelings are to hold him out.

Is it just me or does anyone else feel like Expectations are being set for a week with perfunctory emphasis on the Running game and all the game planning being focused on the expectation it will fail vs trying to be more creative with how to attack and execute better at it.

From everything I've read and seen, Barry seems to be a guy well liked by his players. Seems like some real solid chemistry brewing here. Good to know.

An interesting thing discussed in this mailbag was why not have more than 1 RB on the field at the same time.

I like the idea of Chris and either Matt/Alf on the field at the same time.

Any of you football X and O guys have any thoughts on that? Does it limit the blocking too much?

Got to like the accountability of Cuz and Grant shouldering blame regardless of what you think about the play. Truth for me is there were multiple reasons for the fail.
