...your daily belly laugh:

Truth About It Happy New Year From The 1993-94 Washington Capitals

The captions are the best....well the captions and Al Iafrate's shorts:

Best quote:

There’s a young boy, whose precious, fragile being was birthed under the iron fist of communism. Living in what was at the time known as Czechoslovakia, he had dreams, big dreams. They started with a pier, sailboats, sunshine, crossed arms and pleated pants. In between, the young boy grew up and got close to the water, the frozen variety, via hockey. With much success, he was selected by the professional hockey team in the capital of the United States of America and defected away from the control of Mother Russia’s Eastern Bloc. Ultimately, he would end his pro hockey career as one of the better players in Washington Capitals history. But more importantly, he got that dream. The dream that started with a pier near the water where lonesome reflection for all of your calendar date-keeping in February 1994 was fulfilled. That boy is Michal Pivonka.

Yeah, you've got a point there.

I have a couple of stories about him that would back up that claim. both are second hand, so the details may be sketchy.
- he had a car accident somewhere in he States (Minnesota maybe?), and was pretty seriously fucked up. He had a legal team working on a settlement, but it was taking some time. he needed some money, so either drove down to Minny (or sold his truck for the funds to get there, I forget which) to take an offer of $25k. His lawyers fortunately were able to argue that he was not mentally capable of making that decision on his own... ended up with $6K per month for life instead.
- As a result of the accident, he has pretty serious scarring on on side of his head, and his hair doesn't grow quite right. He had joined a new hockey team (beer league), and his new teammates were warned "don't look at his head". Well, as Link is getting changed into his gear, on of his new teammates couldn't resist a glance. Link noticed, and beat the shit out of him in the room before the game. :L

both of those were post-accident though, so I'm not sure how different he was before that.
