Foles nearly considered retirement before signing with the Chiefs to play for Andy Reid.
If he wants to start, he'll have to wait another year unless someone wants to offer something good for him.
Obviously, they will not trade him just to trade him.

Oh no, they should never trade him just to trade him

Getting offered 2, lets say 2nd rounders?

That when Philly has some decisions to make

Agreed. If two teams get in a bidding war.... I think you have to pull the trigger regardless of the health of Wentz. While it's nice to have one year insurance, the bigger picture gets that much brighter.

Not sure about that. The 2017 insurance netted a SuperBowl victory.

I agree, I just don't think it would be as much as some people think. More value in keeping him on the team.

Yep, but I do think it's fairly simple...as mentioned in post #119 with Dirt. Wentz's health is the trigger.

If they feel comfortable with Wentz...even a 2nd round pick is worth trading him...if Wentz is still not 100% by training camp, a 1st rounder wouldn't be enough.

Would you trade that Superbowl victory for a 2nd round pick?

I would not trade a 2nd round pick for the insurance of having Foles as the backup.
However, I am a Colts fan and we had nothing to back up Luck. Tolzien anyone?

Multiple picks could provide insurance for a future dynasty...

It's wishful thinking either way.

Really comes down to what Foles wants to do.
If he doesn't want to start, it's all academic.

Trade SB win... Relevance here? Gotta move past the SB now though...if PHI had Foles on a $4 mil cap hit for the next 3 or 4 years...I think I would keep him...the reality is they only have this season.

As much as NE probably wanted to keep Jimmy G...they made the right move getting something for the asset.

Had Brady went down, they would have regretted the trade. It's all a guess.
With Wentz coming off major injury, I would take the insurance of having Foles for this season. The Eagles are stacked and returning 20-22 starters. It'd suck to miss that window. If Wentz went down.

I do see your point though.

The relevance is that without Foles on the bench last season, the Eagles would not have won the SB.

You asked would I trade a 2nd rd pick for a SB win?

Yes, most likely true, but I'm still struggling to see what that has to do with this season? Repeat of LY? I'm not sure where you're going with that.

He probably has friends and stuff

For 2 #2nd rounders I would still help him pack, drive him to the airport and well say good bye....

At the end of the day its "business". I love the kid I think it was a perfect ending for him and he deserves the pay raise and the chance to start some where else....

And I see yours as well. It's rare to have a SB winning capable backup QB, I wouldn't be anxious to move him either. But, at the same time, SB champs rarely come back 100% intact the following year. Having an extra high draft could help them fill another slot...for instance...is Sproles coming back @ 34 y/o? Burton? Then next season they have some big hitters coming up for UFA status.

I think the main thing for me would be the health of Wentz...if he's ready to go, I would trade Foles and get another backup.

Rumor is Foles to Pats for a 2nd this year and a 2nd next year. Wow.
