And this question could apply to us being either buyers(perhaps some D-Line help as that seems to be our most injury heavy position) or sellers(trading Simmons if we don't think we can get a long term deal done and his value is high).

I don’t think we should do either. This team is in the building phase and not Super Bowl contenders.

I think if we could get a young player for a 5th or later then it would be worth it.

Trade Von for the numero uno pick overall. I know, it will never happen, but one can dream can’t they

If we make a trade it would need to be someone that has multiple years left on their contract as this team is questionable at best at being a playoff team. What position would you look to upgrade for this year and going into next year:
QB:
Drew Lock
Brett Rypein
Jeff Driskel
Blake Bortles

RB:
Philip Lindsay
Melvin Gordon
Royce Freeman
LeVante Bellamy
Jeremy Cox
Damarea Crockett

OT:
Garrett Boles
Demar Dotson
Jake Rogers
Calvin Anderson
Quinn Bailey
Darin Paulo
Ja'Waun James

G:
Dalton Risner
Graham Glasgow
Netane Muti
Elijah Wilkinson
Austin Schlottman

C:
Lloyd Cushenberry III
Patrick Morris

TE:
Noah Fant
Nick Vannett
Jake Butt
Albert Okwuegbunam
Andrew Beck
Austin Fort

WR:
Courtland Sutton
Jerry Juedy
KJ Hamler
Tim Patrick
DaeSean Hamilton
Tyrie Cleveland
Dionte Spencer
Trinity Benson
Fred Brown

DE:
Shelby Harris
Dre'Mont Jones
Demarcus Walker
DeShawn Williams
Jurrell Casey
Jonathan Harris
Deyon Sizer

NT:
McTelvin Agim
Sylvester Williams
Mike Purcell
Darius Kilgro
Joel Heath
Kyle Peko

OLB:
Von Miller
Bradley Chubb
Malik Reed
Jerimiah Attaochu
Anthony Chickillo
Derrek Tuszka

ILB:
Josey Jewell
Alexander Johnson
Joe Jones
Mark Barron
Austin Calitro
Justin Strnad
Nigel Bradham
Josh Watson

CB:
AJ Bouye
Bryce Callahan
Michael Ojemudia
Essang Bassey
Davontae Harris
Duke Dawson
Kevin Toliver II

S:
Kareem Jackson
Justin Simmons
Trey Marshall
P.J. Locke
Alijah Holder

I know that not all these guys will be back next year, but we don't know which ones will and won't. Almost no one thought Shelby Harris would be back this year but he was.

I don't know that the benefit of a trade helps this team going forward. Getting the younger guys reps and game experience is more important in my opinion.

If we were to make a trade I would think it would be for Royce Freeman, but he is probably more valuable to us then what we would get in return. If we don't think we can keep Simmons he could be another guy, but I really don't see us trading Simmons. As a fan I hope not as Simmons is one of my favorite Broncos.

Who would you trade for draft position?
I was answering the question - What position would you improve? If the Broncos bomb against the Chargers - I expect Simmons to be on the market. If the Broncos win - they will likely stand pat.

Are you expecting us to lose Simmons this off-season? If Denver doesn't expect to re-sign him I would surely be looking to trade him away because realistically we aren't going far this year, but I think we are in a position right now where we don't fully know.... I think Denver really wants to re-sign Simmons because of his leadership skills and while he hasn't played his best this year he has been a pretty key player on D his first 4 seasons of his career, I just think the issue is how much money will he get on the open market and if we are willing to pay him top dollar. Probably a question we can't answer right now. I guess really Denver better then us is probably going to have a good idea in his negotiations last year what he wants in a long term deal after this year, so we probably have a good idea of what it is going to cost, if we feel it is too much we might as well move him now. I am still under the idea we will re-sign him, but we are going to have to make some tough decisions coming up. Harris will be a FA again and this year I don't see him signing a one year deal.... Sutton' contract will be up after next year. Bolles contract is up this year even tough if we could go back in time we would have picked that option up. Bolles could be the reason we don't re-sign Simmons, IMO. I thin it was looking good until Bolles did a complete turn around in his career this year. Can we afford both, and then Sutton the year after??? We will surely pick up Chubb's option after this year but he is going to demand a lot too. Then Von Miller is also a FA, so this is going to be a very interesting off-season for us.

I would like to see Denver trade for an O-Lineman(even a good backup would work).

Great analysis! I'm glad I'm not in the Bronco front office and have to deal with these issues. The one issue you haven't mentioned with all the decisions that have to be made is the salary cap reduction issue - based on this year's revenue. Teams can get in trouble with the salary cap is they don't watch out, but at the same time - when the Covid is gone - the revenues will spike and the profits will roll in (IMO).
