It aired last night on BBC, and is available online for download if you look hard enough.

I'm a little too buzzed to watch it now, but will watch tomorrow and comment.

Shit. I thought it was supposed to air on BBC and BBC America at the same time or at least same week.

Good luck. I had a hard time finding a link...ended up finding a slow download for free site, but it took 2 hrs to download.

HOWEVER, IT WAS WORTH IT.

The season 3 premier, "The Empty Hearse", delivers. Really fun episode.

The next episode is this Sunday in the UK.

And then BBC America is playing all of season 3 on Jan 19th, I think. So just a couple of weeks.

So did they just show the first 45 minutes of Ep. 1 like they've done in the past or was it the full 90 minutes? Or have the changed format?

BBC America is going to show all 3 Series 3 episodes?!? or just the full first episode?

Sorry, I'm full of questions because I'm excited.

UK has always shown full 90 min episodes. I've never actually watched them on BBC America, so I don't know if they split it up like you were talking about.

As for Season 3, I'm pretty sure they're showing the full episode of "The Empty Hearse" on the 19th, and then eps 2-3 the following weeks.

'Sherlock' to Premiere Jan. 19 on PBS, Air Back-to-Back with 'Downton' | Anglophenia | BBC America

Awesome, thanks!

i didn't realize it actually shows on PBS in the US, not BBC America.

i've always just downloaded them or streamed then a day or two after they air in the UK.

just finished the finale of season 3

episode 1: 9/10
episode 2: 8.5/10
episode 3: 7.5/10

if there's a 4th season, i might end up adjusting my impression of episode 3.

Ended up just waiting for the US premiere on Masterpiece Mystery. It was awesome. Exceeded my expectations even.

Premiered last night.

I thought it was great, but many don't feel that way.

Every once in a while, great art, slips through the cracks of mediocrity. (like that of most TV and movies)

Sherlock continues to be a great series. It is one of the greatest series in TV history.
great stories.......great direction.....great acting
Benedict Cumberpatch and Martin Freeman, continue to be the most wanted actors, on the planet.
And it was strange, Amanda Abbington (Mary Watson in the show) actually had been living with Martin Freeman in real life, until recently. And I thought, last nights show, was brilliant.
The best Sherlock Holme's line continues.....Basil Rathbone / Nigel Bruce.......Jeremy Brett......
and Benedict Cumberpatch / Martin Freeman.

It's too bad, Sherlock is a once in every two years, series.

I hope, the BBC Sherlock series, isn't coming to an end.

and of course......Dr. Greg House and Dr. James Wilson were a homage to the great line of Sherlock Holmes

It didn't work for me as well as other seasons first episodes, but the quibbles are minor, and more style than substance. The pacing seemed too frenetic to me, trying to squeeze too many jokes and bits in - sometimes they just flew by too fast to register.

It's definitely better than Episode 3.1, IMHO.

I'll rewatch this new season many times when it comes out on DVD, but it didn't do it for me. Episode 2 was my favorite of the new bunch.

Kind of hope they "reboot" it, and like one of the producers said, focus more on the duo solving crimes and mysteries again.

The way they ended the season, with the montage at the end, could have meant it may have been a series finale. However, it could be indicating that Sherlock has cast off his quasi-misanthropic ways and become the Sherlock more akin to other adaptations.

Not sure why this show has been in my backlog for so long but I'm about 5 episodes in and its pretty darn good. I'd give the first episode an A and the other 4 an A-. The plots move quickly and they are able to cover quite a bit of ground in an hour and a half.

I'm not sure it lends itself to serious binge-watching but its definitely something I'll work through in the next few weeks.

I'm reading this thread and seeing come critic reviews and I'm reluctant to push through to Season 4 but I've enjoyed the first 3 seasons quite a bit.

2.3 > 1.1 > 2.1 > 3.3 > 3.1 > 1.2 > 2.2 > 1.3 >>> 3.2

The wedding episode is the only one I didn't like despite a really good premise. The rest are somewhere between good and excellent. Season 3 episode 3 is one of the weirder episodes and I really liked where it was going until the villain proved to be quite stupid.

Ok, so I ended up binge watching the whole thing. Fantastic series even if I hate that my least favorite episode is how it ends.

1. The Reichenbach Fall
2. The Abominable Bride
3. A Study In Pink
4. A Scandal in Belgravia
5. His Last Vow
6. The Empty Hearse
7. The Lying Detective
8. The Blind Banker
9. The Hounds of Baskerville
10. The Great Game
11. The Six Thatchers
12. The Sign of Three
13. The Final Solution

I don't see myself revisiting the series except for the top 5 episodes. I suspect that everyone is going to see this show differently just because some episodes focus on the characters and some episodes focus on a case.
