The Sharks have been rotating players in and out of their 4th line RW spot since Burish is out probably for the rest of the year. They seem to feel they need someone who's a fairly fast skater, can play a physical game, and is willing to be a face puncher. Brown fits those criteria.

I can see for the Oilers case because it puts them down to 48 contracts, they may be up to something else

Yeah, it's likely this is just the start of something bigger for the Oilers.

Seems like an overpayment as usual.

strange to give up a 4th rounder for a to-be-UFA, no talent, 6 min/gm goon? I thought the going price on these kind of guys is a 7th rounder or even the dreaded player to be named later. However, no player should even have to be traded for future considerations. That's rough...

sounds like Burish is done. I woulda preferred giving a full time gig to pelech rather than give up a reasonable pick and 700K of unbury-able salary. That 700k could have come in handy round deadline time. Why not stick with pelech?

Meh, it's a 4th round pick and if it stops the Worcester shuttle for that 4th line spot and we never have to see Pelech on NHL ice again it's probably worth it. I can't remember the last time the Sharks actually picked in the 4th round anyways. They always trade their 4th to move up in the 2nd or 3rd rounds.

Seems a bit much for a 4th liner, but like you said, I bet Burish is probably out for the season.

I like it, even though it is clearly an overpayment. No more Pelech, no more Burish.

I kind of expected Boyle to the IR. I don't think it's a sign that he will be out for an extended period of time, as of now it just means he will be out for at least another 7 days.

They needed to put Boyle on the IR to make room for Brown on the roster. No biggie since he has to sit out the 7 days anyways while he's under concussion evaluation.

I've see this rumour quite a bit as well but apparently Edmonton was the 1st team Miller listed on his list of teams he wouldn't accept a trade to.

I remember Brown with the Ducks, he was nasty and more importantly, high energy.

High energy, defensive forward that will protect teammates. Sound like what a 4th liner should be. As opposed to an often injured, highly paid, unskilled agitator, which is what Burish is. We all hated that Burish signing whether it was the term, dollars, or everything about that deal. I hope Brown takes over that 4th line winger spot permanently and can form some chemistry with Desi.

Brown isn't a heavyweight and has not been a part of the PK unit. Those are my only complaints.
