Trainers Room:
Mets: OF Jay Bruce, on the disabled list since June 19 with a sore right hip, homered and had an RBI single in his latest rehab game with Class A St. Lucie. He started at first base. Bruce is expected to return to the club Thursday and be activated for Friday's series opener against Washington. ... David Wright played third base for seven innings with St. Lucie and went 0 for 3 at the plate.

Mets: RHP Jacob deGrom (8-7, 1.71) is coming off his first complete game of the season last Saturday at Philadelphia. DeGrom is 4-1 with a 3.12 ERA over six career starts against San Francisco.

Giants: LHP Madison Bumgarner (4-5, 3.05 ERA) makes his 15th start of the season. Bumgarner, who is 5-0 with a 0.47 ERA in five starts at Citi Field, last faced New York in the 2016 NL wild-card game, a shutout performance that sent San Francisco to the NLDS.

Unfortunately so far thru 5 Mad Bum is getting the better of this deal.

Giants scored a run on a Mesoraco passed ball that should've been ruled a foul...then an inning later deGrom gave up a 2 out with a runner on 1st, which then brought up the pitch who doubled in their 2nd run.


Mets bats are napping...they only have 3 hits thru 5.

It's 2-0 Giants, mid 6th. No support for Jake yet to this point.

Mesoraco is now out due to a neck injury.

Tyler Bashlor replaces deGrom to begin the 7th.

Jake went 6 innings, threw 108 pitches...struck out 10, walked 4, gave up only 4 hits, and just 1 earned run.

Mets Catcher Devin Mesoraco left the game after the fourth inning with neck stiffness.
RF Jay Bruce (sore right hip), on the disabled list since June 19 is expected to be activated for Friday's series opener against Washington. Manager Mickey Callaway said Bruce will see time at first base and right field. ... Third base coach Glenn Sherlock was away from the team due to a family matter. He is expected to return Friday.
