It's absurd to think the Oline blocked poorly because they dislike Griffin.

Just as absurd as the notion Gruden is trying to sabotage Griffin with play calling.

I agree. Even if they dislike him (which I don't doubt), this is pro football. They are going to block guys or they are going to get cut.

Would explain the blocking last week if true. Either that or maybe these linemen just suck?

Report: Several Washington offensive linemen dislike RG3

LOL. Jeez - as an Eagles fan I thought that you would be smarter about things like this. One of the sources is Jason Reid - a well known Redskins hater who bashes them at every opportunity. The other is Cooley who is also kind of getting tired.

Whether this is true or not I am truly getting sick of all of these unnamed sources. I wish that the NFL would completely ban the media from the locker room. I could certainly wait a few days for a story in exchange for not having to listen to this garbage on a regular basis. The current state of the media is pathetic.

Or how about the possibility that they were playing without their best Olineman (Williams) and several of the other guys are young players who need a little time to develop. I didn't realize that young O-lineman were supposed to be at their peak during the 2nd week of preseason. Oh yeah - one other thing - you have to give some credit to the other team.

look , as an eagles fan you arent up to snuff about jason reid so you get a pass on that . for redskins fans on this board we know what jason reid is and his "mancave " BS

now for cooley the last few weeks he has run pattern in cleveland looking for a come back job . he stated that 3 out of 4 execs wanted him but one didnt . the FO came out and said they werent interested

now in the past week , cooley has put out a highly questionable critique of Rg3 's performance vs the lions and now he comes out with the "o/lineman dont like him BS

i think he has an agenda

I agree with Cali far as his absurdity point and the OL not blocking for GRiff because they disike him. I can't imagine too many on the OLs, the WRs, the defensive players, ST players etc like his triflin and self-deluded ass.

And despite all the evidence that says Griff didn't have to prove himself worthy of his starting gig, it was simply given to him.......again. Or that someone in very high management is coddling Griff like a baby. Or that Griff hasn't learned a damn thing nor has he changed whatsoever. Despite the last two train-wrecks seasons he and the Skins endured. We the fans know and the Skins players themselves know. No one else on the team is gonna get 3 seasons in hopes that they turn into a marginally half-ass decent player who won't sink the Redskin battleship damn near single-handedly.

I'm picturing Riley from Boondocks saying that word for word and it's making me laugh.

While I wont say these guys are tanking it in an effort to get Griffin out of the lineup, I will say that if these guys actually DONT like him, I cant see a reason for them to give maximum effort either. Its one thing to show up every day and go through the motions, its another to actually give your best effort. And I do believe that the O-line like many of us, would work harder for a QB that they actually had faith in. There is something to be said for a QB that has the ability to rally his guys around him, and indications are that QB1 is lacking in this department.

There is a really easy way to test the theory and get rid of the drama surrounding it you realize??

The two o-linemen who got beat the worst are a rookie (who I doubt hates him already) and a backup tackle who is trying to make the team (and likely won't after last week). I agree this story is nonsense, but RG3 could make it go away by playing better.

Really? I can see plenty of reasons including keeping your starting position & possibly a roster spot. A pro athlete cannot afford to get caught up in this type of game. You need to look at this from a player's perspective & not simply as a fan.

I am sure that you & others do things at your job that are not pleasant & you probably don't like everyone at your work place, but you endure certain things. If I were the coach and detected that a player - at least the marginal ones - were tanking for these type of reasons that player would be gone in a second.

If some of these guys are so adamant about this then back it up & identify yourself. Somehow I believe that this is 100% conjecture from the media. How are we supposed to take a source like ESPN seriously when one of their lead stories today is about one of the Giants getting a shampoo deal - what a joke.

Also - given all of the mess that occurred last year why would any coach or employee at Redskins Park volunteer this type of info to the media? If there is a hint of truth to this the Redskins organization needs to identify these individuals & punish them accordingly up to and including firing them. I thought that these type of leaks were going to be addressed. That is what makes me suspicious of this whole story especially when it originates from a piece of crap like Jason Reid.

I dont, because simply put when was the last time you saw any of these guys actually defend their QB?? How many times have we seen RG3 get dragged by a defender even after the whistle and the o-line does NOTHING to defend their QB?? Flip side, didnt we have on atleast two separate occasions where an O-lineman got ejected for defending Brad Johnson when a defender took a cheap shot?? The next time a see an O-lineman come over to help Griffin up off the turf will be the first time I have seen it in over two years. The kid says shit to make guys NOT want to play for him. And no I dont think they are tanking because they dont like him, but I also dont think a single one of them would go above and beyond to protect him either. I do think they are tired of having to play better than the average player else risk the QB and even the coach letting them take the heat for yet another poor outing by the QB at the end of the day. Yes Scherff got blown back off the ball last week, but the QB also walked into the sack as well. Had the QB had the presence of mind to step right instead of left, no sack and likely a pass attempt instead.

Tre Johnson, baby. Though like you said, it was a cheap shot, so who knows what would happen if RG3 took one? I don't think any RG3's sacks last year/this preseason were cheap shots and I don't remember Brad Johnson getting helped off the ground every time he took a sack, so it's a bit apples and oranges, though I admit my memory is a bit fuzzy of Johnson's time.

I am not denying that RG3 was the cause of the problems & certainly was last season. So - you are saying that O-lineman (especially rookies & 2nd year players) don't need to give maximum effort on every play to ensure their future with the team? This should be true even if they hate the QB. No - they don't need to always help the QB off the ground, but they do need to make all of the correct blocks & do their job. It is called being a professional.

This isn't "Remember the Titans" where a lineman deliberately misses a block resulting in the QB being hurt. That is Hollywood - this is real life. I think that is disrespectful to those lineman to insinuate that they would deliberately not do their job because of their opinions of certain folks. Do you truly believe that most NFL teams are made up of guys that all like each other? No way. & Yes they will do whatever is possible to protect their QB - including RG3 - not because they like him but because it is their job & as soon as some of them give less than 100% well that is the time that they will be selling cars or working elsewhere.
