A lot of changes this year with the new look Seattle Mariners... Las Vegas has the +/- win total for the Mariners this year at 74.5... Where do you predict the Mariners to finish this season?

Kind of early to make a prediction without knowing what the actual line up will be but I will put in a guess of maybe 72 W's. This is the first season I can remember, where management is telling the fans upfront that we shouldn't expect a good season instead of putting their typical bullshit spin on things. Kind of sad to think M's fans need 1 or 2 more years to get excited about (MAYBE) having a winning season. Will be interesting to see how Oakland stacks up this coming season. Would hate to see the M's at the division's bottom. Don't think that will happen though. Probably won't be as much entertainment other than seeing progress in Dip's moves and Servais getting another (hopefully) good learning year of how to manage an MLB team. At the least, I won't be getting pissed off all the time now when we lose:pound: Nothing to get excited about though, except for Edgar's HOF this summer:yes: Hey, at least the Mariners will set another record......for the longest post season drought AGAIN

I'm thinking 75 wins is about where we'll be... Not much will change on our roster imo… Not until trading deadline... Bruce and Encarn could be dealt if they're having solid season... But otoh, if they're having solid seasons, we could be in the thick of things... I know... Wishful thinking.. I LOVE our young bucks and can't wait for the season to start... Feb 21st is our first game of ST…

This is where my frustration has been. To me, Dipoto upgraded the overall offense from last season with Cano out. The pitching staff is a who knows but realistically this team, to me, is a few breaks from being in the 2nd WC contention next year again.

I'll figure about 75 wins. Not bad enough to be top 5 in the draft.

I'm excited about the new YOUNG guys.
EE, will they trade him before the season, or hope he hits well and get something better near the deadline?

Got my tickets for Friday August 9th. Edgar Bobble Head Night. HOF celebration.

Im with both of these.

Im at around 75ish wins right now. I dont think they are bad enough to pick in the top 10 or avoid some fake contending run that wouldnt shock anyone.

agreed

a few guys do well..and you are right back in the wild card

pitching..filix..makes a comeback..or swanson fills in for filex..and does well...i would say chances are 70- 30..maybe on that..to the good

kikuchi
leake
gonzales
hernandez/swanson
leblanc

does not seem so bad

so i will make two choices...in wins..78....and...85...why...idk...lol

but the next season they will be even better...bet your boots on that partner...or aaahhh
at least the used ones...lol

I was playing around yesterday trying to figure out what their starting lineup would be and I noticed some problems. Other than Seager, the powerhitter/middle of the order types are all right handed. The table setters and guys toward the bottom of the lineup are all left handed. It's going to leave the team vulnerable to relief pitching as several of the left handed hitters will be bunched together. The lineup, the way I see it right now:

CF Smith (L)
RF Haniger (R)
DH Bruce (L)
1B Encarnacion (R)
3B Seager (L)
LF Domingo (R)
C Narvaez (L)
SS Crawford (L)
2B Gordon (L)

Ideally, Bruce wouldn't be hitting third, it would be Haniger. But that may be their only option if they want to avoid having two consecutive left handed or right handed hitters in the top half of their lineup.

Healy will probably play when an opposing left-handed pitcher starts. Beckham probably will too, and occasionally Freitas.
Domingo will have to return to 2017 form or he'll end up on the bench and Healy will play full time. In that scenario I guess Bruce would play LF, Healy would play 1B, and Encarnacion would DH.

The team's pythagorean record last year was 77-85 and they aren't going to have another fluke year where they win 12 games more than their Pythagorean win total. And the overall talent on the 25-man roster has been further downgraded. So I'm thinking they are going to fall in the 65-70 win range. I'll say 68-94.

Strong possibility but I wouldn't be surprised to see Haniger bat lead off again this year... He did a great job last season at the lead off spot...

Haniger will succeed no matter where he hits in the lineup. But he's really the only natural #3 type hitter on the roster.

honestly I just want some new faces to show out this year and have a good season. Haniger came out last year and Marco Gonzales I want atleast 2 more players to have similar success maybe 3

Agreed. That's my fear is they are in the WC race up till August and then bottom out assuring them a middle of the pack draft pick.

Downgraded by Direct TV package. I no longer get Root Sports. This will be the first summer since I moved here from Alaska in 1993, that I won't have Mariners baseball. I may miss it some but I'm just not interested in yet another era of Mariner's baseball where they start all over again. It hasn't really been fun since Piniella left. The 1995-2003 run seems like another lifetime now.

Well positive is if you listen to the Mariners you don’t have to listen to Sims
