Seattle always catches a break. They should walk into the super bowl again. This is their last year so they better win it again. Next year they lose Lynch plus a couple guys on D.

That's what the competition hopes anyway. We "lost a couple guys" from the defense this year too, still #1. Also lost Tate. And overcame the Harvin debacle/drama. Lynch is under contract for '15, but he very well could be gone. Maxwell is the only big name on the D that's a free agent.

I don't feel like looking up the post you made saying we weren't going to win the division and had no chance to repeat.
It's kinda blah blah all the same stuff, ya know?

Didn't I hear something similar during the off season?

Seattle has about 31 million in cap space with Lynch on the roster. Enough to pay Wilson and keep players and maybe pick up a few in FA. They could very well be a better team next year.

But wait, we have been told for nearly a year now that it was a guaranteed '1 and done'. Stony has said that as recently as a couple of weeks ago. So now we get a bonus one? SWEET!

Great thing is, Seattles foundation is set on the defensive side of the ball for many years to come... With a great defense, we're always going to be competitive...

When another team is in your path, it is natural to wish them to fold somewhat. Just didn't happen and as young as Seattle is, we should be in the mix for a few more years barring an injury pandemic such as Arizona had this season. Anything after that is going to depend on the front office.

Management is the number one factor determining any teams success or failure over time. There are only a very few franchises that continue to be in the mix year in and out for multiple years. And to see why, just look at how the upper management types conduct themselves.

My favorite example is Green Bay. They don't have a meddling owner. They all own the team. They maintain consistency and keep their good people in place a long time. One or two bad seasons doesn't get people fired. And the end result is they are competitive more often than not. Seattle got their GM from GB and sort of modeled itself after them. Building with the draft and very little in FA.

As fans, all we can hope for is a team that is competitive and with the outside chance of winning it all once in awhile.

Just heard the Panthers may be without DT Star Lotulelei. Haven't watched a ton of Panthers games but I imagine that would be a significant loss when it comes to stopping the run.

Well seattle got lucky that Arizona lost 2 QBs. I don't think they win it again because their offense is weak. D took a step back so I do think Denver and pats can beat them or even the ravens. GB has a out side shot and Dallas already beat them but I don't like Dallas going to GB. Romo hates the cold.

The Hawks should win. But don't take the Panthers to lightly because they could surprise them. Never know

This is easily our biggest loss on defense. Yes, an even a bigger loss than if we were to lose Kuechly. In the 2 games he missed this season, we gave up 149 ypg against the 14th and 31st ranked run defense. And the run defense kept struggling until Star became healthier and started playing better in the 2nd half of the season. His play in the 2nd half of the season is the main reason why the run defense and the defense in general has gotten so much better.

I don't mean this to sound derogatory at all, but you've also hit some home runs with some late-round draft picks that have worked out to be much better players than expected. Seeing as how you never know how some players are going to turn out, some people would say you've just been extremely lucky.

Honestly, with this loss, I don't see how this team can keep up with the Hawks.

Yeah, Lynch was going to get his yards anyway, but if Star isn't out there it could mean the difference between a 100-yard game and a 200-yard one.

Broke a bone in his foot at practice yesterday :L

This guy thinks the Seattle D has taken a step back. You should probably stick to the safety of the 9ers board, bud.

I predict Seattle 23-10. 6-3 at halftime.
Honestly, with Star Lotuleilei being out...I could see 24-3 at the half and 31-10 by the end of the game. This shouldn't be close at all.
