Now that it's officially done did the hiring of Sean McVay signal the re-emergence of Fred Davis? Now before you go on a rant about Davis being a knuckle head, weak blocker, poor work ethic and all listen to this from McVay on his tight ends.

Doesn't seem like he had issues with Davis, in fact his report was very encouraging. Imagine Reed and Davis, Robinson in the slot, Garcon and the drafting of that "go to" guy on the outside.

As you know - that interview was in the preseason. Whether it was his fault or not - Davis did virtually nothing this season. As a result he will pretty much command a very minimal contract. That might also be the case even if he goes elsewhere.

You could be correct, but the question will be how much would Davis be willing to accept & if others in the organization still want him around. Who knows. I guess this is a possibility but probably a remote one at this time.

That is correct, it was in the pre-season, however I clearly remember reports stating that his work ethic and blocking were great concerns. I also remember the raves Davis was getting in previous seasons and just before he tore his tendon. You're right Davis will command a minimal contract. My question is ....why not here? I fully believe that at the core of his fall from grace there was an issue between MS and Davis. Possibly, the drafting of Reed, the festering discord between the two which ultimately led to Davis' building resentment and being denied that 500,000 bonus.

I totally agree with you. My point was 1.) whether Davis would still want to remain with the Skins for minimal money & 2.) if either the FO or the new coaching staff still wants him around. Who knows. I would have no issue if they gave him a shot for minimal money - very little risk in that.

Not sure what you deem minimal money, but if you are talking vet minimum, he will get more than that. Not significantly more, but modestly more. Even at that price, I just don't see him returning and I'm not sure allen would want him back. He is a lot of problem for, realistically, very little production. Could be have produced more if given more of an opportunity? Maybe this year he could have had 20 or so receptions, but would be the upper limit given the rise of Reed. Every other year, he limited himself.

Well - if it is anything more than a fraction over the minimum - forget it. Like I posted previously - I believe that the odds of him returning are remote at best. I would also not be upset if he did well elsewhere. Some players need a change of scenery and perhaps a kick in the butt to make them produce.

at 1 -1.5 mil i would look at it if shanahan was the issue and not anyone else . i dont think davis will command a lot of money in the open market

and if we had him and reed in the 2 te set they run in cincy that is to low cost guys with playmaking potential
