Lets also state that Chubb should have been a first round pick for the Hawks but they got cute and picked Penny.

im not, im facing the facts that RBs are a low value position that have a very short shelf life. round 1 and round 2 should be spent on positions with more longevity and importance. You're confusing value with talent...
I get that but the top talent is still in the 1st few rounds regardless of value... That goes for every position... It's rare to find a gem in 4-7 that will play at a pro bowl level for 3-5 years...
Let's look at 2021 top 5 RB's for SAG's...
Taylor: Round 2; Pick 40
Chubb: Top of Round 2: Pick 35
Mixon: Round 2: Pick 46
Harris: Round 1: Pick 24
Cook: Round 2: Pick 41
Seems like the top 5 RB's are 1st and 2nd rounders in 2021... The talent is still at the top of the draft tree... Not 4-7... That goes for every position... You're confusing value with talent...

Last 5 Super Bowl winners by RB:
2021 - Darrell Henderson: RD 3 Pick 70 (688 yards 5 TD)
2020 - Ronald Jones: RD 2 Pick 38 (978 yards 7 TD) *Tom Brady
2019 - Sony Michel: RD 1 Pick 31 (912 yards 7 TD) *Tom Brady
2018 - Wendell Smallwood: RD 5 Pick 153 (364 yards 3 TD) *Wentz's MVP caliber season
2017 - Dion Lewis: RD 5 Pick 149 (896 yards 6 TD) *Tom Brady
Mixed results here, but the outstanding trait is you need great QB play to win the SB. Talent at RB however is needed, and most of that is found at the earlier rounds. What are Wendell Smallwood and Dion Lewis doing to carry their teams these days? Do we have great QB play coming this year? No. So, get that talent at RB on the cheap and fill the QB hole when you can get the needed talent, which definitely was not this draft.
now look at their productivity post PB and AP. there is a steep drop off with few exceptions. I just dont think a top pick is worth taking players at a flash in the pan position that are almost never worth resigning.
Now, in defense of Snugs, he doesn't think you need a RB to have a successful offense in the NFL, and as such you don't need AP or PB level performances from them. Granted, he still demands they put up those numbers, just doesn't think they're that important.
Having different HCs and OCs with different systems during each of his 2 years in Denver didn't help his development, and neither did the lack of camps due to covid.
Just watching some Drew Lock tape and
this guy has some potential, seems like a confidence thing on why he’s had some failures, but if he’s coached up, builds some confidence, we could have something here .. He can run, has a canon of an arm, just needs confidence and experience …Hoping Pete and company can coach him up, help him with consistency…
I'm ok with what you're saying... It's the part that you expect a RB to pan out in the later rounds... It's not as likely to happen as it would with a RB drafted in the first few rounds is all i'm saying because that's where the better talent is... I'm not advocating that we draft one high but I'm not going to hold it against the team for doing so because it was a huge need at the time and the likeliness of them panning out w/ the higher pick is more likely to happen than a pick in the later rounds... You can't just keep picking guys like T. Homer, Dee Jay, Alex Collins, T. Rawls, T. Pope, McKissic, Old version of M. Hyde and A. Peterson, M. Lynch, E. Lacey, etc to fill the void each year...now look at their productivity post PB and AP. there is a steep drop off with few exceptions. This Levi Smith kid might make the team, he’s dynamic …
In NFL history there have been some fantastic players that go un-drafted, Warren Moon for example, Kurt Warner, and mind boggling James Harrison went un-drafted, dude was a monster.. So there are un-drafted gems to be found, the draft isn’t a perfect science … This Levi kid looks dynamic, glad we picked him up, not saying he’ll be that guy, but you never know …Begs the question why wasn't he on draft boards and drafted? Looks like Louisiana was ranked in those clips, so it's not like he was from some unknown place.
He is interesting. Here is a film that breaks down his play. This Levi Smith kid might make the team, he’s dynamic …
Small guy ( Kyle Murray size small) 5'9 184 is my guess. Despite the small size does throw down the middle just fine.Begs the question why wasn't he on draft boards and drafted? Looks like Louisiana was ranked in those clips, so it's not like he was from some unknown place.
Yep, if he was 6.3 doing what he’s doing no question someone drafts him… Russ kicked open a door for smaller QB’s but teams still shy away from it …Small guy ( Kyle Murray size small) 5'9 184 is my guess. Despite the small size does throw down the middle just fine.

TruthRightfully so. Russ, Brees, and Flutie are unicorns, not the norm.
