In Dean I trust, but why the hell did we just help the Hawks unload a bad salary? Dean's smarter than to help #1 rival--Chicago has to be paying part of Scuderi next year or Scuds will join Vinny in retirement heaven (though I doubt it).
From what I have heard it's more to shore up the bottom D pairing because McBain McNabb aren't cutting it. Those guys weren't playing above 10 minutes a game putting more pressure on Doughty. I don't hate or love the move but we shall see.
He looks like he hasn't missed a beat, it was just a bad fit for him in Chicago. They are more of a puck moving team and he isn't exactly the most fleet of foot - never has been - but he will fit the LA game. I was in Carpinteria over the weekend for a funeral and family time and got to watch a little bit of the game Saturday night, read he received a video tribute and got a standing ovation.
I think he fills the 5th-7th role fine now at this stage of his career, not to mention Chicago is retaining 50% of his salary (they were already retaining 33% from the trade earlier with Pittsburgh) and the Kings are retaining 15% of Ehrhoff's deal. The cap hit for Scuderi in LA will be $1.125 million and $225,000 for Ehrhoff in LA over a full season.
I was hoping Ehrhoff would have been a good fit here but it was a low risk high reward move that Dumbo can't be blamed for. Just seems like a better fit for both guys in their new places.
That dude's article just cracked me up. You have to think a lot of effort went into the still shots, the analysis, etc. For what, a bottom pair defender?
Unless you've been living under a rock we all knew he is not the Scuderi of 2009-2013. Just isn't, age has caught up to him but he is extremely intelligent and positional, not to mention his stick work is solid. Everything I just mentioned has nothing to do with his skating and everything to do with experience.
Sounds like the writer missed the note that he isn't the same player from 4 years ago.
