good for Hawerchuk!
that kid's going to be a keeper.

I was a little surprised that the Jets went off the board to get him in top 10

I think this is the right decision. There's no reason to rush him this season.

While I was watching a Jets game the announcer mentioned they had 9 former 1st round picks on their roster. They failed to mention the guy who drafted them had absolutely no idea how to build a franchise.

Team Canada will be stacked. Then again they always are. Huberdeau, Strome & Scheifele down the middle is going to be tough for any of their opponents. Oleksiak choosing Canada helps too.

I expect Huberdeau to play the wing with 1 of those guys. He plays more of a centerman style of game but has actually played the wing most of his junior career. Most of the guys at that level are talented enough to play either one. Most probably grew up being the #1 center on every team for which they have ever played but when they start playing at somewhat higher levels with others more on par with their skills, some of them need to move to the wing in order to keep them all on the top 2 lines.

Also I wouldn't be shocked to see Couturier or RNH added to that list. I think RNH will certainly stay in the NHL, but depending on how things play out over the next few weeks I could see the Oilers letting him go play, especially considering Edmonton is jointly hosting the tournament with Calgary. If Edmonton appears to be a playoff contender and RNH continues to be a big part of that then you can forget it. But if they are struggling and looking to the future then I could see them letting him go play and get that experience which he didn't get last year.
