I heard Pens prospect Alex Grant left the ice on a stretcher after a bad hit. Not sure of the name of the Sens prospect but apparently he got 5 and a game. Rumour I'm hearing is that Grant may be paralyzed. I hope I'm hearing wrong. I've met this guy several times when he was in junior. I know its always a cliche to say good things about people when bad stuff happens to them but he really is a nice kid. I hope its not as bad as it sounds.

Where did you hear this rumor? This is the most I can find on the web:

Pens defenseman in hospital after hard hit

Thanks for posting that link. That sounds a lot more promising than what I heard.

I heard that rumour at a QMJHL game tonight. Grant played here for 3.5 seasons and I heard from staff members of his former team, that that was what Shero had told one of them but they were desperately seeking updates at the time and were not really sure.

in watching the highlights, he moved directly after impact, meaning that he (unless moving caused some sort of nerve entrapment) is most likely NOT paralyzed. he was most likely spine-boarded because he had some sort of nerve injury symptoms (tingling and what not), so they were forced to. he's probably most likely in the hospital for observation, just in case. i'd really be shocked if it were more than a concussion and those symptoms. it obviously could be spinal fractures too, which is on the worst case side. i hope the best for him though...

Thanks Pix! The buzz at the game tonight (among those who had heard anything) was that it was much worse. Of course I was getting my info 3rd or 4th hand, but it sounded much worse. I'm relieved to read that its likely not as bad. That being said, if it is indeed a concussion, that's the 2nd one he's gotten at a Pens prospect camp. He got one back in 2008 too.

Also I was looking for these highlights even before I heard about Grant. I have interest in 4 players in this game. Grant, Despres, and Peterson for the Pens and Hoffman for the Sens.

Wow, looked like a bang-bang play at first. But upon further review, he gave him that ever so hated shove right in the numbers...
