Its a bad call, so bad that it will be talked about till all of us are dead. Just like the fail mary, the stolen superbowl, and sexual predators from irrelevant teams.

They talked about how this crew hadn't worked together before, but to pick up the flag and give no explanation seemed a bit weird

I blame the NFL for this. They should send crews to the playoffs instead of grading each ref solo because now in the playoffs you have crews who never worked with each other

Not so much in the play-offs (though the Carolina at Philadelphia NFCCG game was extremely bad), but more blatant are a few reg season games I remember with the Eagles - both before replay; I assume reg season examples can fairly easily be found for other teams as well:

Against Washington, close to the end of the game, the Washington RB fumbles the ball (he was not even close to being down), Eagles recover. Initially ruled as such. Then one of the officials comes in, and argues that the RB was down, the call is reversed. Turns out people were able to identify the ref that caused the call to be overturned, and said ref had actually fallen flat on his face, with numerous players in his line of vision when the play happened. He could never ever have seen the fumble.

Against Pittsburgh. Officials let the Eagles IIRC re-kick an onsides kick twice (or three times even, maybe) because of fouls on the play (by the Eagles), where they should have handed the ball to Pittsburgh the after the second kick. Eagles ended up tying the game with a FG as time expired. Pittsburgh got the apology letter. What was blatantly ignored by everybody was that earlier in the game one of the Pittsburgh LB or DL recovered an Eagles fumble, ran it back, but pulled a Desean Jackson at the 5-yard line and kicked the ball through the endzone from the 2 yard line or so. Correct call should have been touch-back, Eagles ball at the 20. Unfortunately the closest out of shape geriatric in stripe was trailing by 20 yards, and it was ruled a TD.

Even this season, against Arizona, when they picked up the flag for (finally) a correctly called near text-book horse collar in the Eagles final drive of the game (with them having to score a TD). Although that actually was in line with how they ignored clear horse-collars under their noses earlier in the game. Although IIRC they had not yet announced the penalty...

The refs screwed up pretty badly on that play. But the Lions had plenty of chances to win the game and failed.

It was a bad call but let's stop making it seem like the fix was in.

Shitty call no doubt but the shitty call had nothing to do with the Lions punter 5 yars punt after the call.

If he's able to pin the Boys inside their own 10, the BS call probably means nothing

Exactly and they committed 2 stupid penalties to save the Cowboys drive which eneded in the GW TD
