Garrett will be getting an extension & Kris Richard will be the DC. Which means we are not losing him.

It had him listed as Passing coordinator & DB coach. What is a passing coordinator? (on the defensive side)

Jason Garrett - C - Cowboys
According to NFL Network's Ian Rapoport, the Cowboys plan to negotiate a long-term extension with coach Jason Garrett in the offseason.

Garrett's under contract through the 2019 season, but the Cowboys want to work with him towards an extension reportedly worth upwards of $8 million per year. It was only the beginning of November when Garrett was speculated to be coaching for his job, and now it sounds as if he'll be Dallas' head coach for the foreseeable future. While that certainly makes him clap endlessly, Garrett was undoubtedly out-coached at every turn this year and only showed life once the front office made staffing changes to surrounding coaches and coordinators. Garrett's last extension (which will be outdone) was a five-year deal worth $6 million annually.

I hate this. See what happens today and then next season. The Cowboys should be one of the favorites to win the Super Bowl next season. What if we roll out 7-9 and are still locked into Garrett for 4 years.
Talent wins in the NFL, but coaching matters. Jimmy and Bill were simply great coaches. As to assistants, Norv was great, drop off after he left. Same with Zimmer, same with Callahan and the OL. And there is no question that this defense is playing at a different level since Richard was hired. I think he is a great leader, and Garrett should have to put up another good season next year before being extended. Much like when we had Sean Payton as OC, we have an assistant on staff that's gonna leave and become a better HC than the one we have

Jerry just uses any reason to justify keeping Garrett. Damn!! Garrett does not deserve an extention at this point.

Keeping richard is wise in case garrett is fired next year
I am pretty sure wade Phillip's was extended and then fired during the same year

No need to extend Garret. 9 years. Loaded teams in a few years and only 2 playoff wins and no NFC championship game appearences let alone a Super Bowl. Keep him on the hot seat next year and decide between him and Kris Richard.
