By my calculations they have approximately 13 million to sign 7-9 players.
Am I missing something here?

They have no starting goalie, half of a second line of forwards, and no third or fourth line. They are also missing at least one D-man. All this is before they even sign a 21st or 22nd 2-way man for depth.

I see them being very soft in the backend this year with a one trick pony offense that teams will shut down with line matching.

They are extremely top heavy with their big 3.

well the cap went up. i think they have about 15 mil. either way, yea it sounds like they will not be as good which is expected whenever you sign guys to big contracts. unless they have some good prospects.

I had already figured the almost 3 million cap increase into it. Based on my numbers they have locked up about 46.7 million in next years salary out of the 59.6 million cap.

Letting Nabby go seems to be a little relief, but they don't exactly have a great prospect for goal waiting in the wings to replace him, and unless they plan on signing a mediocre goalie to a 2-3 million contract what did they gain by letting him walk. I just can't see what they are trying to pull off.

From what I hear Stalock and Sateri are pretty damn good goalie prospects. They have also signed Karrlson (sp) form Sweeden. I don't think that any of them are ready though. Look for them to sign a veteran stop gap to split time with Greiss until one of the young guys is ready to go.

Also look for some combination of Clowe, Mitchell, Murray, and Huskins to be moved for cap relief. But yes they will be top heavy with shallow scoring depth, again.

it's kind of a mini-rebuild in SJ. they have their top talent, but they absolutely NEED to develop the depth guys. goalie is their biggest issue by far. personally, i think it would've been blow up on the bay if they hadn't made it to the 3rd round at last.

I'm more worried about defense than goaltending honestly. The Sharks do need some better defenders. They have so much depth at goalie I'm not worried about it at this point. People forget that Doug Wilson's preference for completing the roster is via trades. He knows what he's doing. The Sharks will finish this season near the top of the conference again.
