Few Senators fans show up to support Spezza

3177042.bin

The whole point of Saturday’s rally was to demonstrate fan loyalty to Spezza, and more than 100 people had said via Facebook that they would be attending, which left Tremblay, who said she went to considerable effort to apply for rally permits from the police and Parliament Hill officials, less than pleased about the turnout.

“I’m gonna be on Facebook and it’s gonna be ugly,” she said.

about 20 showed up.

Those are the same 20 people who showed up with Tox at the Daughtry and Lifehouse show last night.

I haven't been on in awhile but there are a lot of different outlets saying that Spezza told Murray he would like to get a fresh start with a new team. The reason being the media and the fans digging their teeth into him every chance they get and booing him on home ice.

If he is traded then this is a trade that will set this organization back 5 years or more. Mark my words, it will be 5 years at the bottom of the league.

it really is amazing that the fans of Ottawa haven't learned from Mtl's booing players out of town for the past however many years..
Ott just takes every single star and runs each through the ringer in turn.
is it the fans leading the charge? the press, with a gullible following? both?

If only Spezza wasn't making $7 million...Flames are just too close to the cap to make any kind of play for him combined with the fact that they don't have anybody desirable that the Sens would want.

The Ottawa media usually leads the charge and then the fans follow up on it. Don Brennan and Bruce Garrioch have to be the worst journalists in the business. Neither one of them are professionals, they're both guys who try to make a story out of nothing and put phony facts in their stories and will do so even if it puts somebody down.

But most of the time it doesn't get to the point where they start booing players on home ice. I can only remember it happening twice, once with Yashin and now once with Spezza. Obviously the first time it was justified, this time it's not though. Spezza has done nothing wrong, he's been loyal to the franchise, he's improved his game and through all the criticism he's taken over the years seemed to hold his head high. But it gets to a point where you think, am I ever going to be liked in this city and respected?

Heatley was a guy who drove himself out of the city. He wanted a better chance to win and he didn't care about loyalties or anything. He didn't care that the Sens took a chance on him after a difficult time in his life, allowed him to get his confidence back as a player and get his life back on track. He returned the favor by hanging the team and making them trade him. I'll never respect Heatley for it again but that time it wasn't the fans or the media.

Well, at the time I'm sure Spezza was thinking he'd get a little bit of slack from the fans and the media after the Heatley thing went down. Turns out he was wrong.

Never...Heatley will never play for the Sens again. :)

And the laugh never gets old...lol

I laugh at posters on the Calgarypuck board who are suggesting Langkow + Regehr for Spezza. Gimme a break, why do the Sens want to take on more salary for way less return?

Yeah, not a chance dash although I do think the Sens are going to have to take back some cap to make the deal happen.

In the end Spezza may not be dealt but the fact that it could happen really pisses me off.

I hear you. He's a great talent, seems like a genuinely nice guy (which is important), and has worked pretty hard to add some responsibility to his game.

Yeah sure. Believe that to be 100% true. No chance Murray would run his mouth or speak out of turn. He is simply not capable of stirring up shit and being all drama-queeny like he was a middle school girl. No siree. uh-uh.

The ONLY way I don't want Langkow on the Sens.

Well, this has ruined my night.

Until it's realized that the Jackets have a little room and need a top notch Center. I need to find out where Howson lives. The 4th and Rusty Klesla for Spezza. Murray likes defencemen.
