The Pirates had a systematic pitch inside strategy. When you have that with guys with spotty control, you're going to hit batters. But it's also a really effective way to generate outs.

The Bucs did occasionally throw at guys, but it wasn't often. Charlie Morton accounted for like a third of their hit batsmen with 0-2 curveballs to lefties.

Arbitrary endpoint is arbitrary. So 5 years is relevant because that's when he had an 87 RC+, but the preceding 3 years aren't. How about the last 4 years not relevant?
